maximum is life (tarif set by presiding judge)
don't know the minimum

edit found this...

Attempted murder
Title: Offences against the person
Offence: Attempted Murder
Legislation: Criminal Attempts Act 1981 section 4(1)
Commencement Date:
Mode of Trial: Indictable only
Statutory Limitations & Maximum Penalty: Life imprisonment
Sentencing Range: Serious specified violent offence
Aggravating & Mitigating Factors
  • How close offender(s) came to committing murder
  • Any actual violence
  • More than one offender or victim
  • Victim vulnerable or serving the public
  • Hate crime - racial, religious, sexual orientation etc
Relevant Sentencing Guidelines (If Any)

N/A
Relevant Sentencing Case Law

R v Ford [2006] 1 Cr.App.R.(S.) 36
  • It is appropriate to fix the sentence for attempted murder at a level such that the offender would in fact serve about half the minimum term that would have been set for the complete offence.
  • Where enactment of the Criminal Justice Act 2003 would lead to a higher minimum term for murder, there should be a corresponding increase for attempted murder.
  • Because provocation and diminished responsibility are not available as defences to attempted murder, comparison with manslaughter sentences would be more appropriate in cases where such defences would have succeeded had the charge been murder.

I somehow doubt stabbing someone in the face and neck is going to go in his favour either!

Is he a mate, or just someone you know?

I don't think anyone is going to have a pop at you mate. Most people will share your view. Like you say there was definite intent to cause harm.

+1 he's obviously fucked, gonna get 8 years at least imo. The best thing is for him to do is take it on the chin, get his head down and do the time.

what i make out is that he's attempted to kidnap someone, then, when that's failed, has stabbed him in the face

5 years for carrying with intent to use, but depending on how good his lawyer is, the other stuff might not be taken into consideration if it's just him having a ruck with some other fella

depends on what happens when it goes to court and if the judge is pissed off or not

it's not big, and certainly not clever

Unless that changes down south to
Every sentence here is halfed mate unless its a life sentence or ipp..
The ipp is a life sentence really but with a recomended amount say a 5 year in this case then the guy would do 5 years before even going for parole and then probably being turned down untill they felt it safe to let him out..
Once let out he would then be on probation for life and any wrong foot and he would be back..
If hes been in any violent trouble before id say an ipp is on the cards with a reccy of around a 5 yr...

cheers danny

serious, attempted murder, kidnap, and stabbing in the face and neck, might get a 10 bid, out in 5 on good behaviour. cant see the judge being lenient in the slightest tbh with those type of offences.

Adam is a pro Thai boxer - last time i saw him he was off to Thailand, so i was told his missus bunked up with someone else whilst he was away.

What i can't understand is why he had a knife, i can't see it being his style due to his ability to handle him self. As no other info has been released it could be a different story to who actually had the knife to start with, apparently his missus got stabbed too in a tussle so this could be how the other lad was stabbed.

All in all it's a bit of a shame as he's normally a good lad, well into his cossies which i actually don't know what's happened to

id say 10 years easy, neverv worth it when we forget ourselves and screw up our lives like this

stab above the neck is classed as attempted murder, think below the waist is GBH though or something stupid like that

still a shame, a old school mate i just found out is doing 15 years for armed robbery, aint seen him for years but still is sad,,, worse when i read it in a local paper where my sister lives as thats where it happened

shite news for you though mate

Boys boys chill out.

I worked their for 3 years just before the £9m re-development plan got underway in 2004 so i know what its like or used to be like.

I had my work van done over 9 times by theiving bag heads, threatened with bats, knives launched at us etc and we were only their as workman helping them out.

I still have a scar where a women went nuts on me when i asked he to sign my worksheet off. She stabbed me with fucking pen knife.

My work mate had a bud bottle smashed over his head because he knocked on the wrong door so yes i know all about raffles.

As said though this was 10 years ago and sure it will have changed now after the re development plan but i can only remember it from back then.

Never been round that way for years.

Can someone tell me if Scotby Cycles is still their or shut down??

I got my very 1st bike their when i was a kid and would like to get my sons first little bike from the same place if possible.

Regards

Chris

Seems a shame Chris as he sounds like a decent lad who has got caught up in something that any one of us would do if your mrs had bunked up with someone else.

He sounds like a handy lad too if he is a pro thai boxer so it could be the other fella who had the knife so it could be self defence maybe??

What was the outcome of the court case chris?

Cheers

Chris

A friend of mine was In on remand for, kidnapping, torture, tbh, attempted murder, and a couple of other things.
After 7 months waiting for a trial he got let out Scott free.
The bloke he did it to was needed on another more important case and they had to drop the case against my mate to be able to carry on with the other case.
So you never know, he could get lucky.
