I have seen a few times on here where people have traced an old car etc through DVLA website to see when last taxed etc

An easier way of finding out if a reg is still in use, be it on the original or on a transfer, is to enter it into the London congestion search page....as that site doesnt request a make etc.
If you have a reasonable reason, dvla will release details/history off their files for a particular vehicle. I think being as you dont own it, it'll make it fairly difficult requesting it this way as a passing interest isnt really reasonable reason.

Not unless they like prison, EVERY call to the PNC is logged even the cop at the time of the enquiry has to give a reason, and his name is logged against the enquiry.

is that true lol.

last week i was sat in my van, engine off etc when BANG, some prick swipes the side of it.

now if there wasnt a police stop check area right in front of us, i bet he would have drove off, so i blasted the horn and about 20 coppers turned around to look lol.

anyway, got the guys details etc and he said he would meet me on the friday to give me a new mirror glass...

so after he had gone i asked a copper to pnc the reg, and it came back insured.... but the cunt never phoned me back to give me said mirror...

so the insurance can sort it now, minor scrape to front wing, mirror casing and glass...

put a sizable dent in the rear arch of his transporter too, so surprised it didnt do more damage to mine....
