I went about 5 year ago, I thought it was proper pants...... tiny island, and plenty of locals. and didnt have to try hard to get thrown out of the hotel.
there's a ban on street music after 2am iirc as the beach is protected due to turtles taking residence there. which means the streets are dead after a while and there was only a few clubs that were allowed to keep playing the tunes into the morning.
I thought Crete was better myself. The place have changed, but it's still a tiny island even on ped's you'll do the island happily in a day.

Went there 2 years ago. Stayed in Laganas, the apartments were terrible, but the restaurants were nice, didnt really sample the night life as i was with my bird and went for just a chillout holiday.

Went to laganas last year with some mates - apartments wern't too bad, can't remember the name of it though some good restaurants and some proper shit ones, the nightlife is mainly down one street so it does get busy, the bar with the dentist chair was fun though! the only thing i didn't like about the place was all the little chav hardmen giving it the big un, but was funny when a load of Italians kicked off and they had to close one end of the strip - chairs and tables going everywhere! oh and if your single there are always loads of birds slutting it up

Have been 4 times now & have a few mates who live there both greek & english.
They own bars & the Jeep safari.
Was over last August had a great time but as far a Laganas is concerned it depends on who you are with & what you want from your brake.
It has had a fair amount of trouble over the last year of two.
Apparantly after the police tigtened down on Falaraki (is that how its spelt?) the new resort is Laganas. There are fights & i heard even rapes occuring
Naturally the local police are on the case as this would ruin their tourist trade & spoil a beautiful holiday location. But not sure they have it stemmed yet
I prefer to stay over at Tsilivi on the other sid of the airport or even Kalamaki 2km down the rd from Laganas

Stayed in Kalamiki with my old missus last year, was really nice for relaxing, great food to eat and loads to do. plus Lagana is about 15 mins tops on the bus so you get the best of both worlds.
It was fucking hot in august.
make sure you do the jeep safari, it has to be done to believe it, a wicked day out.

If you went on the original Jeep safari did you meet my pal "uncle Yannis" at the Exotica Bar in Alikes & Louis?
Louis would have been going mad in a Land Cruiser
& is about 6ft 2in, black as the ace of spades from Scotland No messing

Yes mate got a photo of me and him at home.......he's a wicked fella!
Is that exotica bar the one where they do the cocktails at the end? I think it was that one. Top lads and a top day out. Really fun guys. Allthough the poor bastards said they hated doing it....lol

We had two punctures on the way back...driving along the cliffs on the way back with a puncture was fun.....and worrying.....
Really amazing drivers tho...some PROPER offroading...i wouldnt have thought you'd get a car some of the places you go.

Went 2 years ago right in the middle of summer and it was really hot!
We stayed just outside of laganas and ended up in the town most nghts, theres plenty of pubs and clubs etc down the strip to keep you happy pretty much everynight
Pretty good for watersports aswell if you like jetski's etc
id certainly go back if i was going on a lads holiday

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Extremely good place from a few years ago, think this year will be its last before it goes the wrong way like faliraki (sp?). Loads of great places and anyone who has been to laganas will have heard of the legendry place ! www.cherrybay.com
