Default 2001 Mondeo Passenger Door Lock Snag

Hi - I've got a problem with the lock on my passenger door. At the moment it is currently locked and I am unable to open it either remotely or manually from the inside. The catch is in the locked position and when I try to open it it seems almost sprung shut and just returns to the locked position when I release the pressure.

Normally I would remove the door card and have a look inside but I cant remove it without trashing it because the door is closed and locked.

Any help gratefully recieved.

Does the CL still work? At the moment it sounds as it's deadlocked.

I had exactly the same thing with the other halfs 2000' focus, the lock button felt connected, but jammed the other end (lock mech). I had the door card off but owing to the fact the cable was connected, and the bolts for the lock itself cannot be accessed i had to give up, and let Ford to it.

The looked at the car in the service bay and seemed puzzled, when i asked how they planned to proceed one suggested 'with force' - something i would never had heard the end of if it went wrong.

Ł200 later and it was repaired, new lock, card back on etc, but there are no signs of any damage... :S

if you pop the little cover around the door lock level you should be able to see the bit of metal that you need to press to release it

unfortunatly i would have been able to give you a link that told you move by move what to do but the site has changed and i can't find any of my old posts

invest in a haynes manual though and in the mean time i'll see if i can get some pcis up

the bit you need to get hold of is the actuator rod that goes from the lock to the handle, there is a little plastic tab on it that breaks and it locks everything in place

it's about Ł8 from ford but if you strip the other side down you'll be able to see what i mean

Cheers - I'll give it a go later on tonight. None of the other doors (including Central Locking) are affected so normally I would spend a bit more time weighing up the options but the MOT is due next week so need to get it so the door actually opens at least

Hello

I am new to the forum. I have just bought a Mondeo ST24 and the passnger door is locked shut and the same for the O/S rear. Will not open by key or by interior handle.

The car has been sitting for a while so I guess it is expected that things go wrong.

I have read the above which is great once the door has been opened but my problem is getting the door opened in the first place.

Is this a garage job only.

All contributions gratefully received

Thanks in advance

Neil

http://www.talkford.com is the correct address

the .co.uk site belongs to someone else and is a dead holding page, hasn't been updated for 2 years.

www.talkford.org and www.talkford.net I also own, and will forward you to the main domain name (talkford.com).

Come back dojj, we miss you
