Default LHD Series 1 Turbo?

I'm going to be moving to Brazil next year, the cars over there are absolute toss (selling Corsa B's as brand new Chevrolet's), was thinking about importing something decent over there. Cars have to be over 25 years to be imported into Brazil (or under 2 years old).

Was thinking about a S1 RST, they have mk3 Escorts in Brazil so some parts might be easy to find. It'd need to be LHD, sure i've seen LHD S1's before but been looking around and not seen any for sale. Did Germany have S1's? Any other countries?

i have a lhd cossie and i spoke to dutch bloke at ford fair who had a lhd s1 and he said there was only about ten in holland so ther even rarer on the contenent and big money his car was nice but he said it was worth 20.000 euros over here get the same condition car for under 10k. there are a few over here and i nearly bought one 8 years ago in bedford but it wernt that great and he wanted 4k. lhd xr3is do come up cheeper id by one and make it in to a replica

Actually, thinking about it, an S1 over in Brazil is probably going to be a waste, not likely to be worth much compared to what it'd cost me to get a decent one. That makes the idea of a replica a good one. Not worth taking a replica over to Brazil when they have Mk3 Escorts anyway, may aswell just take a load of parts and build one up over there.

I think i'll scrap the idea of an S1 over there...

Can anyone think of a decent <1985 car that would be available in LHD for around the 5k mark?

I spent the last year working in Brazil and I saw plenty of mk3 and 4 escorts on the road over there, I dont think i saw any turbos but there was definately xr3i. you could just make a look alike when you are over there

Convert a rhd?why does it have to be a left hooker, there's loads of rhd cars in Yankee land!!!!Check the rules as well as I know in Canada it's only got to be over 15 years old.

i remember there being a thread on here before when pacwest who lives in canada said that when he looked into export a ecos over there he couldn't because it had to be over 25 years old, but maybe thats because of the emissions or summit i'm not sure, hence the reason why i'll be looking into a 3dr

oh and the same with rhd here, lhd vehicles are easier/cheaper to insure over there too

yeah I was in brazil last year and their cars are pretty rubbish (unless you have mega bucks).

If you really want to take an rs turbo lhd I'd suggest getting one from (south) italy they dont suffer from the rust so much and they are still quite cheap (or they were last time I was there). S2 will be much easier to find than S1 though.
