Off to Ireland a week today!
Howdy folks
Basically I won a competition buying a fillet steak from Asda and Ive won a return flight to Dublin, transfers to and from the hotel, 3 course meals on the Friday and Saturday, 2 nights stay in a luxury 4* hotel and a cookery class from a celebrity chef (which we chose from) on the Sunday.
Now, me and the missus have never been to Ireland, and want to go round Dublin. The flight arrives in Dublin but the chauffeur is going to take us straight away to the hotel (30 miles away).
Coming back, he is picking us up 3hrs before the flight leaves (allowing 1hr for the 30 mile drive) so we can get our plane.
What is public transport over there like? I know its not the cheapest of countries, Ive heard its one of the highest paid countries in Europe.
For anyone that knows Ireland, the place we will be staying at is the Ballyknocken hote in County Wicklow.
Anyone give us any pointers as to do while we are there? I have TomTom on my iphone and will be trying to find good POI's to visit. Its a 2hr walk to the coast, which we will do one day.
Will it be easy and not super expensive to get to Dublin itself? We will be in Co. Wicklow for around 9am on the Friday morning, so will have a full day to get to wherever. Was thinking trains might be a decent and cheapish way to get there. Sod paying £50+ for a taxi to Dublin.
Any thoughts?

Oh FFS, I'm not happy now!!!!
You f0cking said you would pay up and now I get f0cking deffed?
Why say you are going to pay for something then decide f0cking not to???
It was a "touch tails" for a second and see what happens moment. It was intimate. It was between you and me. We have had this problem before with you suspecting me of 2-timing you.
Fooking women.
Or men.
Or both.
I need a pint.

stu a few pointers ,forget public transport, cause their aint none ,well not a lot anyway, just get a taxi ye tight git lol.
wicklow is known as the garden of ireland and is full of beautiful scenery and real nice places to see ,dublin is ok for a bit of shopping and that but id rather stay where you are staying mate .
as for prices they have come down a gret deal since the recession and the pound is worth about 1.20 euros so you wont find it to bad to be honest.
just park yourself in the bar and let the guiness flow

Me and the Mrs went to Dublin earlier 'dis' month.
We went to the Guiness Brewery and the Jameson Distillery. We also spent quite abit of money on shopping and went to Marco Pierre White's Restaurant.
Get yourself on one of the Viking Splash Tours if you don't mind making yourself look like a knobber.

Hi Stu,live in Dublin, but looked up Google Maps to see the hotel location.Basically youre in the middle of no where!!!Well its 50km to the city centre.Best to hire a car.The nearest place to get a bus into Dublin is 3 miles away in Ashford down a country lane.Nice village is Ashford,my mate lives there.I'm a taxidriver myself, and I can tell you it would be over €60 easy for a taxi to Dublin City centre.
