Unhappy My mate's inquest results,6x drink drive limit

Going on from a thread from last December and someone posting about drinking, which I cant find now.My mate sat down on the sofa at a party on Dec 05 09 fell asleep and never regained consciousness. They initially thought he had died of alcohol poisoning and they were right.
Thursday at the inquest the most mortem results revealed he had 504 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood the legal drive limit being 80.Brain heart and lungs were fine,25 no age to go .I just thought I would share the results.
At least I feel a bit better now knowing no one had spiked him with anything, still sadly missed .

So he had 504 and the legal limit is 80? is that right?

No age to go no, but if you will drink yourself into a grave.................

Your not on yor own there,we did used to drink a fair bit sometimes.I suppose its just something you never think will happen. How many times have people woken up and thought where am I,or what did I do ?.

No it 100% is NOT right.

There is no simple way to convert volume of alcohol into units and then into ml or "safe".

People have different metabolic rates so burn off the alcohol at different rates. Their physical size and whether that is fat or muscle has an impact, and then you get to different kinds of alcohol (which is why units are supposed to be helpful).

In the good old days most of my age-group most would have said two pints of lager was very safe for driving - but we have no way of knowing. Even so, that would be at least 12 pints and while I don't think that would kill me, who knows what underlying condition he may have had (or any of the rest of us, for that matter!)

You have point there,as stated by the Deputy Coroner "The level could have been reached with only seven pints, but the reading may of been higher and decreased as he slept".

He was not a big lad about 5,7 and 9-10 stone, but he had not been eating to much and was stressing about a bike accident he had in Sept and was waiting for a court date. That was the strange thing though I didnt think he was drinking as much as he used to.I have seen, been with and done the same as him buying 16 stellas in the past and he never looked drunk.I would be wobbling all over the place or asleep.
I dont think people do learn off things like this though, they just think as it will not happen to them
