i have just got a s reg escort gti £200.00 it had a blown head gasket all done now new cambelt ect ect it keeps cutting out arhhhhhh but its not chip'ed and i can get over how quick it is the chap before me said he got 140mph i was thinking doubt it i have taken it out and got it to 135 and still pulling this is crazy ?? all it has is a cheep air filter !! and also did a audi 2.0 t petrol 55 plate wot is going on as i said there is no chip mabe a re map ?? and also duz any 1 know wot are the best carbs for the car i.e r1 ect ect

defo ant cossied i wish i have been told they do 115 120 but this is mad still has standard zorst ... its mental and i wanna give it some more R1 throttle body blue flame zorst wich i am waiting to come .. choped springs but am genna get a coil over kit soon

Welcome to the site chap, is that Henley as in near Stratford up avon? if so im only 15mins down the road.

Little tip though, speak properly, nobody will take you seriously otherwise..............

As for the car you say it keeps cutting out, maybe the idle control valve needs cleaning out etc?

i'd try the idle valve first as already mentioned. And as for the speed well that would be the quickest escort gti around. Does it have a 2.0 zetec lump instead of the original? Failing that i'd say the speedo is reading too much. Or, does the needle wobble about alot? Often a sign of worn cable or tired gearbox.

will get another speedo but i have had it at 50 60 and 70 and its fine with my dads td5 discovery . no m8 it dont have a 2.0 zetec my mate has fixed fords for years and had cossie's rs's ect and he said its off the chain (when he drove it )

try cleaning the throttle flap with carb cleaner sinse you would of disconnected bat to do head gas it would of reset adaption values

have chq'ed the prices and for the kit £99.00 company in black country and they will make it to fit the r1 and the GTI . i can get a throttle body of ebay for about £75.00 that is cheap as some company at the ford fair wanted £850 for a throttle body not a chance the car ant worth it ha ha
