Default Axle/Diff P100

Ello people, not been on here for a while. Back in november my p100 diff went but never got the time to sort it until tonight. Took the plate off and the planet gears have gone, damaging the pinion and crown wheel. I was told the atlas axle was from a capri, and has 3.09 on the crown wheel. My mate says i should get a 3.54, which is the english axle. Would this axle fit a p100? If not wat would be best, as i want a bit more acceleration then before. Dont want to spend too much money tho! If anyone knows, or has for sale please let me know asap as i need it back on the road in 2 weeks. Thanks alot

think the standard p100 axle is off a swb transit,
english and atlas stuff is defo not interchangeable,
if the diff loads from the front its an english,
if it loads from the rear its an atlas
there are loads of various ratios available for each,

Its the 2l pinto lump, so i guess the 3.44 will be best? What is it likely to be from now as its a 3.09 in it? Thanks

very long geared so sounds diesel,
but if its from a capri obviously not,
think the 3 litre auto capri was quite long but not too sure

if its a 3.09 its not a transit/P100 axle, the closes you get to that in a transit/P100 alxe would be a 4.56, when i was building my 24v P100 i used a Ford Explorer axle, they are 3.73 and all you do is move the spring pearches to suit the P100, once the pearches were moved it went straight on, with a bit of modding the handbrake cable fitted the disc brakes as well, you have to use the explorer wheels or anything 5 stud Jap should fit the axle, i fitted granada cosworth wheels but the stud pattern is 2mm out so not ideal, explorer axles are american 8.8 and have LSD and discs as standard, the they fit capris as well with no modifing other than the floor for the prop!!!!!
