Too many posts.. I need a life!!
not easy to get hence prices high
only source is e36 325 that had it fitted as an aption (rare) or early 328 sport (96/97 pre traction control models).
I've had a lot of these models and only one so far came with an lsd hence its rare to find one breaking with an lsd

Team HOTHOT!
M3 LSD will fit straight into your car
M3 Evo LSD will not as it has a bigger case and the output flanges are diferent.
I looked at many LSD options when I was putting together a conversion on my E39 540i Sport and ended up using the M3 Evo LSD/case with an M5 cover and shortened the propshaft by 15mm - Everything else was identical to what I needed apart from the gear ratio was slightly higher so acceleration was improved at the loss of top speed (but the speed lost was past the 155 limiter so never a problem in reality)
I did a massive writeup on the BMW5 forum about it, but the whole shabang cost me Ł500 to do as I was lucky enough to get an M3 evo diff from a breakers for the princley sum of Ł200

Are you looking to buy one?
I've been offered one today.
Its a bmw with an lsd 1991 525 sport and the lsd diff works (it left 2 nice black lines when I tested it) and its nice and quiet no noise from the diff.
I will be selling the car on but if you want to work something out, with your old diff in p/x let me know.
