Default Needing a key cut

Hi peeps,

My mum got herself an S reg Escort a few weeks ago, and the only key she got with it was the red master key. Obv she needs to get another one cut, but someone told her she HAS to get this done by Ford - is that correct?

There aren't any buttons on it etc, it's just a normal key, i'd have thought she could get a duplicate cut anywhere?

Any decent key place can cut them, they can't code them though, but as you have the red master easy to do yourself, the sequence is explained in the owners handbook, better locksmiths can code some keys as they make them to the code of the master, but not afaik on fords yet, I know they can for some m/bikes for sure, scooters of some sort I think.
