righty. the prob comes and goes now. can go allday fine then another day its allo ver the place.... BUT, one thing noticed is the fuel gauge. say the car is half full or full, somewhere you knw where the needle should be. key in, start car, fuel reads empty fuel light on 0.3 miles left before i run out. now i know this aint true so drive it anyway. goes into limp mode, as sure as eggs is eggs. ignition off and on again, if fuel gauge is wrong it will always go in limp mode.IF its right it doesnt go into limp mode.... ever!(at the mo). electrical fault....ECU fault....anyone had this at all????????? please

Wonder if something as simple as a dodgy fuel gauge sender unit could cause this. Surely it's no coincidence, that the two appear to be linked.

What I'd advise is ringing up a selection of Ford dealers, asking to speak to a technician, and saying that you're considering bringing the car in, but want to talk to someone first.

You 'may' find a tech who's helpful and who has experienced it before,.

Dodgy senders can have an effect on the running of the vehicle as it tried to prevent you from running the fuel system out of fuel and cuts the engine. It mentions this in the Transit hand book so I'd assume it would also effect Mondeos with the same managagement system.

what you could also do with is someone who knows how to read live data from thier diagnostic computer not just a numpty who only knows how to read a fault code !

It's not flagged up any fault codes for the the MAF, and they usually do if faulty. Def think I'd be investigating the sender though!

Yes it's in the tank. I think there is an access cover under the back seat though.

By replacing it! Probably would end up cheaper than paying a garage to check it!

I hate modern dieseasels
I made the mistake of buying an 03 plate laguna 1.9dci. 70k with a fsh.

The fuel pump shit it self, put swarf through everything, blocked my injectors and contaminated lines and tank.

Ive cleaned lines out, have to replace tank becuase i cant clean in the baffled area, ordered new high pressure pump at £328. and had to get my injectors refurbed at £128 each. Its gonna cost me near a grand to fix this when its back together and its only a two grand car! was gonna sell it but now ive gotta keep it as im a grand down

i do 130 miles a day so eventual plan is to get a good petrol car and lpg it.

Hope you get your mondy sorted pal.

the mondeos are a fucking nightmare, the 02 tdci i had recently was the same, luckily when that one went into limmp it wasnt that slow as it still had the normal actuator on turbo and not electric, so i blanked off the light and put it on gumtree for 895

some immigrant bought it
