Players aren't to blame, manager isn't to blame. No-one is.

England just aren't as good as the english people think they are.

How everyone else in the world can see it except the english beggars belief.

That's it, blunt and honest.

Agreed, the world has got a lot better at football, so we are now just one of many teams who can play the game, and not at the top of that pile either.

We simply arent good enough to do any better, the papers spend months bigging up our chances cause thats what the masses want to read which means they buy the paper, and then they start believing it, so when we dont win they want to know why.

Its a shame people arent as passionate about stuff that matters, like the economy or childrens education, as they are about a bunch of wallies kicking some old leather around a field IMHO, I quite like watching a good football match, but im never of the opinion the result actually matters much.

Dan,

It is a thread about all sports as Paul clearly says "England are shit at all sports" which is of course a load of nonsense. The only sport we are crap at, is football it would seem

Paul - The players are to blame for their poor performance on the field. The manager is to blame for picking the players, the formation of the players and general unrest within the side.

Surely they fall under the banner of "all sports" that the original post discusses?

Agree with Paul, my view is take all the foreign players out of the english leagues, then see what we are left with, my opinion shite, shite football.

Massively overpaid also, sickens me what they earn to kick a ball around.

Its not really any different to an f1 driver getting paid millions to drive a car, if you are the best at something in sports, then often the returns you generate in terms of seat sales or merchandise sales etc easily justify the value paid.
The very good players are in short supply so command a higher price, its very basic economics.

Totally agree - this countries media will not let anything drop and they have to have a scape goat for every single thing - the next will be why can't brit's win Wimbledon, simple they are not good enough.

One of the reasons spoken today regarding Footballers is they play solid for 11 months but look at the money they get

Which is the problem really - The FA should cap wages in the UK end of - if the rest of Europe want to continue down the near Ł100 million route then get on with it. I know many of the players will go from the premier and other leauges in the UK but at least they can get British players in.

From that we as nations of the UK would have more choice other than a bunch of ok players some that went to the 98 world cup

100% Agreed. We looked like a Sunday league team playing with a bad hangover.

Anyway how about this for an idea, X-Factor but for the England team. Atleast the public can have a say in who fucking plays!!!!!!!

players and ther manager are to blame together.

the manager made some awfull decisions in the run up and during the world cup and should fall on his sword.

we need 2 goals he brings on heskey!!
johnson and upson were out of there depth and should have been on a beach..
rooney didn't look fit..

etc etc.

agree withg all thats been said. tbh this countrys media whip up a frenzy of how this golden generation ??!! can win before a ball has been kicked...!! these 100k plus starts play week in week out with many foreign players that weve all seen over there, but put 11 english players together on a pitch and theyre fooked.! they dont know what to do. we need to get more english players thru into top flight football and less foreign players coming over for the pop star lifestyles... and also a few more ex players into the FA as iirc Trevor Brooking is the only ex player !! how can that be any good ffs !!

Ohhh i'm loving this.

Sky Sports news is amazing, interviewing all sorts of people to find an excuse for England. So far i've heard;

Goal line technology and they would have won the game
John Terry shouldnt have shagged bridges wife, he'd still be captain and the team would be better motivated
Rio being injured
Hargreaves being injured!!!! wtf.
The ball. LOL
The altitude. (because it wasnt the same for the germans was it...?)
Capello being wankston.

Its laughable. England players were NOT good enough, they got shown up bigtime by the first half decent team they played against.

Draws and a win against 3 poor>average teams and they were expected to win the world cup, one half against a good opposition and they were well and truly gubbed.

Don't think capello is to blame either, he used the same players and formation that got them through qualifying without much trouble. TBH... what manager is better than capello that would do the job too?

Players to blame, not good enough, not enough fight, not enough motivation, simple as that, imo.

Agree with that.

Football is a team game and England stopped playing as a team around 98.

Too many individuals trying to grab headlines, not enough genuine passion.

Midfield and defence were lacking.

We do have some good players, the squad members prove it in the Prem and Champions league but for whatever reason just don't play like a team when they pull on the white shirt. England often have stinkers against "lesser" teams but play well against the bigger ones when they don't have to deal with 11 men behind the ball everytime they try to attack.

NO excuses though. They were very poor from start to finish. Every game made for some nervous and painful viewing.

Could argue and bitch all day about "that" goal but Germany were the better, more clinical side and deserved the win.

i nearly got slapped by my neighbour when he started moaning after the match about the ref denying the 2'nd england goal - my reply was "why.. is 4-2 easier to deal with?" he didn't see the funny side.

still, maybe next time eh - they'll be just as good as the '66 team then..

Perhaps people will finally start realising that the Premier League actually isn't 'the greatest league in the world', despite what Sky tell you.

We just aren't that good it's as simple as that.

The North of England is currently under a severe flood warning.

This is due to the entire population of Scotland pissing themselves laughing...

Wouldn't say the players aren't good enough, many of them are shit hot in their premiership teams. Just for some reason they don't seem to give a fuck, or try for that matter, when they're playing for their country. Looked like a bunch of amateurs yesterday, it was embarrassing.

That's kinda the point though, maybe the Premier League is hyped up too much by clever marketing from Sky.

I mean, look at what they've done with Darts, it's essentially still fat blokes chucking arrows at a board, but they've made it to be this great sport.

Agree 100% but you missed one extra statement from your last line, you should also have added "not enough ideas".

Couldn't agree more but whilst the supporters keep paying a fortune week in and week out to watch these tossers the wankers will still keep getting their huge paypacket.

Bollocks to 5, make it 9, that way when the Euros & World Cup come round every few years we would hopefully have more decent players to pick a squad from. Most of the "big" name English players (Rooney, Gerrard, Terry etc) are being helped by foreign team mates to look good when playing league games but as soon as you play an international game those foreign team mates are on the opposite side and are usually running rings round us.

Class. It was a close run thing though between Rooney and about 5 or 6 others for the new record, coincidentally all of them were English .

rooneys been getting quality service from valencia and nani all season at utd whilest this england team struggle to string a few passes together

I think they should have performance related pay, that would have them trying abit harder. Start them on 100 a week, and have the rest of the salary on bonus for effort teamwork etc etc.

But it wouldnt work, all the good players would fuck off abroad for better money. Then the sport itself would suffer in this country!
