Ring them and ask directly 0845 755 5555 if they are not open just use the card and see what happens.

its best to tell them as that sort of amount will usually be declined

You need to tell them, as I'm sure debit card transactions above a certain amount are stopped and verified.

Only time I did it they stopped the payment, and rang the garage to speak to me and I had to confirm a load of info for them. That was for 5k.

Best bet is to phone them first and clear it with em.

Keeno you brute what you doing later?

Cheers Guys, think ill give them a ring to make sure. If I do get there and it declines, is it just a case of them ringing through to authorise it whilst im there?

Thanks

I used one last year for over Ł9k. for a car.
Let the dealer put it through then wait for the card co. to contact you.
The card co. rang the dealer back as a check on them, then asked to speak to me on the dealers phone.
No point in warning them, they need to authorise the actual transaction.
I just had to confirm security / personal info.

I always buy cars on cards when possible, saves lugging around cash. Bought My FRS for 18.5K on a card and had to answer a few questions. The dealers are well prepared for it tbh.

I had exactly the same when I bought my Focus ST, the bank asked me loads of questions because it was Ł9,500 and then authorised the payment. Even though I knew the cash was in my account I was still very nervous You can't beat taking cash with you
