rant rant..fed up of dvla..ggrrrr
is this just me this has happened to??????
the dvla have lost another of my logbooks and they want another £25
last year the dvla lost a logbook from a car i bought..sent off green slip..still no good..£25 please
then when i sold said car i sent off book........3 months later i get an £80 fine for not sending book.....i ignore
then another fine..and a court threat, i write a letter explaining......then a court letter, i told them to fook off!!!!
nothing heard again.....then last month i brought a car and sent off the book ,car has been off road for 20 years i had an old style book..,(i photocopied the book this time)nothing heard so i rang them today..no record of book recieved, i argued with the bloke who wasnt interested and informed me that it isnt them losing the book its them "not recieving"the book..so i went up to local office they wanted £25...there was a guy in the qeue on his 3rd "£25" this has happened to a couple of pals as well lately...seems to me they only want your 25 quid
moan over now sorry to bore you all

You have to do everything recorded with DVLA these days.
It really wouldnt surprise me if they officially (classified of course ) deliberately bin a certain percentage of licenses and logbooks sent in.
Its easy enough to do considering they use the different postcode for different type of letter, just empty half the post bag from the renewals bag into the shredder. job done.

They do bin a percentage if their busy,my old man worked there for years so I know it's true.if the cars already in your name, you don't need to pay anything for a new logbook, just ask for a replacement, otherwise use the phone service as you've got a name and contact chain then,90% of the time they are much more clued up.you should never send the green slip off mate, that's as good as a logbook anyway as you can tax it once off it if you've got a keen post office who stamp it or if you haven't you can use it as much as you like.again,by using the phone service, you've got to pay so there's a record over the phone and via your bank account to keep a log on it.local office are great but by the book so if you want them to bend the rules a little your stuffed!!!
