Default More Ebay pisstaking [rant]

I hate people like this

I get an email, nothing wrong with it whatsoever, perfectly normal question.

Item: Vauxhall C20LET Complete Bottom end!
This message was sent while the listing was active.
potd2004 is a potential buyer.

could you secure this on a pallet if i was to won it,and does it come with the sump present, and is the crank and that built in the engine.what is your reserve
So i reply with

I have someone comming to see it on saturday, I will let you know after they have visited if they do not wish to buy it
So i go and check the listing as i got another email that said there was a bid retraction.

So i look at the listing ( ***** edited by webteam*****) and i see this:

potd2004 (52)
Retracted: £250.00
Explanation:Entered wrong amount
Bid:04-Aug-05 21:24:39 BST
Retracted: 04-Aug-05 21:56:18 BST
So i sent him mail back:

p.s, Nice way of finding out what my reserve is. For that, i won't be offering it to yourself should my current buyer not want it.
That will teach the sly twat for letting the world know my reserve prmaturely! Its no skin off my back, I can live without selling it to him, i can always find buyers if i want, but he needs to be taught a lesson, and llessons will be taught.

[/end of rant]

lol i don't need calming down

I'm in a rather good mood knowing that matey will be getting an e-mail that goes against his expectations 100%

I love being in a position where i can make people think twice in the future before they fuck anyone about.

Shame really, he sounded pretty desperate for it....oh well Tough shit

I don't understand why reserves are secret anyway.

If you won't sell for less than £250 why list below that? I'm sure there is a reason, but I don't understand.

Secret reserves are there for a reason, its a psychological thing. Curiosity as it were.

If you saw something on Ebay that you REALLY wanted, and there was a reserve, you would bid your maximum amount, then when you realise your maximum doesn't the hit the reserve, you would bid just that little bit more to see if you are close to it.

Then when you've really bidded your final amount, someone else comes and takes over and does the exact same routine as you.

Makes me laugh when people advertise summat with "No reserve" but they start the bidding at £2500 or whatever lol, no reserve should mean £0 to me

I don't bother with reserve I think its a waste of time [and costs you money to use]. I just start the auction at the minumum amount I'm willing to sell it for and start from there

Tis easy to get carried away with features as well when listing an item, before you know it it's cost a fortune to list summat

Agree, reserves can be a waste of time, people like to bid to find out what it is out of intrigue, then when they reach it, they think, do I really want to pay that?

I think the idea behind listing below the reserve is so that they pay less for the original listing because they are probably tight, why list a renault clio 1.8 16 valve about l reg for £99 ??!!!

What I don't get is when you check the bidding on an item and the same person has bidded up 3 or 4 times in a line, how does that work, why would you bid against yourself.

My sister was watching a corsa, the bidding was at 2k and the seller had told us he would accept £4900, all of a sudden someone bidded £4900 so Kim paniced, emailed the seller and said she would have it at £4900 cash.

Looked back at the bids 2 mins later and the bid had been retracted and was back to 2k, but it was to late, we had made the offer.

Think we got played a little there

Still, it was a brand new car, couple of months old and a grand cheaper than all the others so wasn't all bad!!
