For your sake Carlo, fingers crossed pal

Depends on how long it takes to clear any backlog of 'returning flights' etc, so I'd say providing the wind changes, or the damn smoker stops chucking the crap out, you should be ok by then.

But then, we're dealing with nature here so no guarantees.........

Will probably depend on the airline. My relatives are stuck in Majorca waiting to go home to Germany and Air Berlin have told him he will have to pay for new flights home!

Is a shame, easyjet offered me the full refund or change onto another flight on the same route within thirty days. They've been really good and was pleasantly surprised.

Im in the RAF mate, I have never seen RAF Lyneham so quiet in ten years... Even low flying is dodgy as they have found ash particles at 800 feet in some places. The thing is with flying is safty is absolutly paramount, and being an engineer I have seen first hand the damage hard dust particles can do to an engine and other parts, better safe than sorry....

If you are bored have a look for the 1982 British Airways 747 that flew through an ash cloud in Indonesia, lost all four engines in a few mins, but managed to restart after gliding 20,000ft down... Was on aircraft investigation, the episode is on YouTube in ten minute sections, well worth a watch.

Depends where he is. If he's up off shetland then he needs a plane to shetland first

They were flying choppers at weekend but think they are grounded again.

They will be flying tomorrow, Think its 6am in McScotland, Teeside is 7am and Manchester is 9am,
Dunno how they gonna work it with back-log and currents, but I can see some overtime getting walloped in.

PS - I bet the BA staff say fuck all about a strike for at least a month while they got the chance of a big earn
