Default MK5 RS2000 track day car mods

Sorry, not sure where I'm supposed to post this?

Hi guys, workmate's dad has bought a cheap '92 mk5 RS2000 for a track day only car.

Wondering if anyone has any tips on what suspension brake and any other chassis mods work well on these cars?

Cool forum BTW, been lurking around - used to have a couple of RSTs myself chipped by Harvey Gibbs @ SCS so still interested in the Ford scene and usually go to the national day most years
Anyway, back the RS2000 for track use - which suspension? brakes? etc...

thanks in advance.

Gary

What size are the standard brakes on the RS2000 ?

I would get him to change the front wishbone bushes to poly as the OE Ford ones don't last 5 mins

260mm standard i think
I got the focus st170 brakes on mine 300mm much better

You could get sum rose joints and put them in the lower arms this was done on my other rs2k and worked very well

std brakes work really weel on track if you switch to grooved disks and mintex 1155s

Other than that coil overs are best but expensive, next I'm trying some cheapo Gas....

see you at bedford!

I think he wants to stick to 15" wheels, so will prolly do uprated pads, fluid and hoses -

Ferodos DS2500/ on G60 280mm with SRF seem to work well on my Golf on track
