spark plugs question

Default spark plugs question

my cossy stage 3 runnig rich. my plugs are black dry so its runnig rich and every 4 weeks i have to change plug iam using champion 59 plugs and it will hold back if i dont change plug every 4 weeks could i turn down the co with out altering the set up off the engine thanks people

i have to change my plugs every 4000 miles never mind 4 weeks
what kind of mileage are you dooing in those four weeks?
what colour should they be if your car is perfect?

i do about 900 miles in 4 weeks and dry black isnt right it should be browns light gray not black

my cossie ran really rich and it turned out to be the connection to my 3 bar...got it rewired and it was sorted.
my plugs are brown/grey so mine must be running ok

my car runs good so that would mean the conections on the map sensor is ok or am i wrong and stu ive changed all sensors and had the car set up and it was perfect and then i changed my head gasket and this starts running rich

RichardPON, my car does have a problem cos it uses alot of fuel Ł20 gives me if iam lucky 80 miles and plugs are dry and black would that make my car smoke

Then I'd say you need to get your car set up.

On a very similar spec, I wouldn't use too much fuel at all on greens, and changed the plugs every 2000 miles because I wanted to, and not because I had to.

spoke to paul hills and he siad that i dont need the car set up if i only changed the headgasket and every this is put back as it came off

i would always get my car checked/set up on rollers after any major work eg head off....

I have seen people damage the ECU water temp sensor when refitting the head, and this would cause the car to run rich, as it thinks the temp is -25° .
