Default Electric shocks off car - problem?

We have started to get some really bad shocks of the car(new focus) when getting out. I know many people get this now n then, but up until around 2 weeks ago we never got one! Now its everytime you get out, and it a proper bloody zap too!

Wondering if is could be an electrical fault?

AFPMSL@the spandex rubbing and causing static

You'll need to get some of those strips to hang from the back of the car like my dad had on his Y plate cortina. Awesome.

Hold onto the door frame before and as you step out - sorted.

Static build up ... Happened all the time during the Canadian Winter .. No mosture in the Air + Synthetic cloths + Nylon seat belt ..

Best was around this apart from an Anti-Static strap is to never touch the body work while exiting the vehicle, Shut the door with the glass or Plastic door handle.

I would always wait from the old lady to exit first .. Listen for the crack then its safe going ..

If you hold onto the metalwork AS you step out then you get a nice gentle 'discharge' (oo err missus) rather than the painful arc

or rather it doesn't build up in the first place as it is generated by the movement of your clothes over the fabric of the seats

What you need to do is step out of the car wearing thick rubber wellies, then push the poor shut by using your bare cock onto the unpainted metal bit of the lock, that will solve the problem.

when you get out the door, make sure you are touching the metalwork of the car before you put your feet on the ground
make sure you are holding the metalwork until you wholy exit the vehicle
then let go
simple once you figure out a graceful way to do it
