Default Headgasket

Hi all, I need a new head gasket for a 2litre silvertop Zetec, is one from Ford good enough or is there better for the money, not looking for anything fancy just reliable. I think the last one has gone after only 5k, i was stuck in traffic and when it cleared it was misfiring but cleared after 30 seconds, i pulled over and the header tank was nearly empty but it did not seem to have overheated. I topped it up and drove the mile back to home, i left it running to see if i could find a leak but there was none, i walked round the back and there was white smoke coming out the exhaust. Would the head have warped? i have a spare if it has. Sorry for the long story. Any advice is most welcome. Have a good weekend.

something is deffenitly wrong for a head gasket to go in 5k, i'm guess it's had h/g replaced not that long ago then it must of been warped from before the head that is, a ford one should be fine for a good 60-70k atleast, take the plugs out aswel if they look unusually clean it's been burning water, so it'll deffo be your h/g thats gone because the head isn't straight.

Thanks, i never thought that the head could have been warped in the first place. My girlfriends brother did the conversion for me but he gets a local garage to put new gaskets and a cam belt and general freshen up before he puts them in himself. He said that none of the other cars has had a head gasket go and is puzzled why, maybe you have hit the nail. We took the plugs out to try and do a compression test but the tester would not screw into the plug holes, all the plugs looked fine. Thanks for your help

or the garage he's taken it too hasn't tightened it down properly could of just been a mistake if it's not happened before and easily done if in a rush, but more than likely be a warped head esp if you dont no the history of the engine before it came to your G/F brothers shop
