Default Headgasket change - Parts needed etc...

Hi,

I will be doing a head gasket change with a mate but I need to find out what parts etc.. are needed to complete the job ! obviousley I will need a new Headgasket, head bolts etc.. but what else will I need ? I've never done a headgasket change before , my mate has though so the technical knowledge is there ! Car is a series 2 erst (1988) if thats makes any difference

any help greatly appreciated

Thats all u need in parts wise an a good torque wrench i mean if i can do it then anyone can i used haynes manuel too!!!!

not really, just tighten the head bolts up in the correct order haynes tells you too, get a good torque wrench and bobs yer uncle

dont ya need a rocker cover gasket? or did the garage that done mine rip me out of a fiver?

good point that man I would assume you get a rocker cover gasket in the 'Headgasket kit' from ford dont you

You need to order the rocker cover gasket separate. When putting in the new bolts make there no sealer etc in the holes and oil the threads up. Have you checked the head to make sure its flat?

You will need exhaust manifold gasket as well. You can leave the inlet manifold attached to the head. Just suck all the water out of the headbolt holes - if there is any water in there!
Apart from that I don't think there is much else that will be too tricky!
