Can we all back track to when bruce got the top speed record for 2wd?????? What was it you said rod? "Ive the record for the fastest 2wd SAPPHIRE!!" So maybe it was you that started changing the rules

there are other tuners that could do it top speed isnt everyones bag or maybe other people have bigger fish to fry ie Pikes Peak Mountune, RallyCross Titles Godfrey , Formula Ford or whatever it is the Bailly and Llyod cars raced in and Mister Norris

There can be only two real categories:-

Top speed out of a bog standard car from each of the cosworth range - nothing to be physically replaced or removed - other than the blueprinting of the original factory fitted components and ecu fettling - and each car has to be able to be driven home under its own steam at the end of the event.

and then second category is "anything goes" - which all these record breakers fall under, as each has its own unique points and no two cars are the same, as none of them remotely resemble the original vehicle they are based on, and some of them Ford have never even laid a spanner on -so the only true aim has to be maximum speed at a designed location, therefore Rods is the current champion.

I would say the most respect I would have would be the person to be able to achieve the best from a bog standard model as this would prove their true engineering abilities.

Just my opinion - no doubt to be shot down in flames.

nos to me is just the same as a turbo , adds more air to the engine to allow more fuel to allow the engine to turn faster


whats the diference top that and race fuel, its not a road going car if either of them are used as there not used all the time !!!! ( ok road going not the best example but ya get what i mean !)


i got the fastest car as when im in mine and i boot it my face goes white, i have been in faster cars and i dont feel like that when others are driving


car we confirm 1 thing though !!!!!!

lol ginge! The cosworth is a turbo'd car....not a nitrosed one! Its has a FUEL tank. It IS a race to the end of the runway,,so why not race fuel? its still fuel.

i agree, why use road legal tyres if ya dont cant use em on the road, race fuel aint legal on the road so it carnt be in the smae leaque as rods car as thats a road going car


either admit rod won and holds the top speed REGARDLESs how it was done or make it totally road going spec and try again, rods and martins cars are 2 different cars !!!!!

I just disagree on the record side of things thats all. Hi Bernie, wed/thu...expect me dude. I aint seen anyone or been anywhere since comming back from India. It's just work work work.....keep that kettle on dude.

Regards to the Zetec.....no comment mate, if it happens it happens but as you know I am more of a do'er than a talker. I will try my best as you know and hopefully everything goes to plan and my new engine will be much more powerful than the last. This time I am not prepared to jump into things without proper testing like I did last year just for the sake of turning up and representing the Ford's at thrashes and events like TOTB.

200mph is a hell of alot easier to achieve in any cossie.....having balls is one thing but the fear of actully taking off at 180mph+ in a bean tin is another. Rest assured....I aint comming off that fooking throttle though no matter what.

yes braking distance is a big factor, i never denied it wasnt !!!!!

but i promise ya you can use standard brakes but the braking will tke longer and agai ya can stop from 160+ with a hand brake and gears at brunters as sunny done it ( obv not what he wated to but he never had a choice !!!)


hope that explains a but betterm karl has standard breaks on his cossie and aslong as us dont over heat em ( takes longer to brake) then you will stop


correct me if im wrong, whats the reason why ya need biger breaks !!!!!

i think at 200 mph ya doing around 100m per second am sure the techy guys will do the maths involved
and braking from around 300/400m your got around 4 secs to slow down
and when you got aload of park cars coming at you like no 2moz it makes u think

ive never actually done a top speed run either and i dont intend to use standard brakes as brom well knows !!!! ( got fook all to do with saftey though, just looks )


why not remove the parked cars and ill try, whos gonna loan me there car for the day

if we broke at your pace we wud all be dead

big brakes are far better than smaller brakes even on a road car fact
cozzy brakes are dangous standard they get hot to quick and fade
a car will brake as fast as it will untill it skids this is covend by wieght tranfree to the front wheels and how good the tyres are
you will see when you get them on your car how much they improve the car
even on the road

if we broke at your pace we wud all be dead

big brakes are far better than smaller brakes even on a road car fact
cozzy brakes are dangous standard they get hot to quick and fade
a car will brake as fast as it will untill it skids this is covend by wieght tranfree to the front wheels and how good the tyres are
you will see when you get them on your car how much they improve the car
even on the road

i dissagree as the kevin has proved me right


but i do also agree that bigger brakes are better for FASTER braking, i dont use standard brakes, i got standard cossie brakes with fast road pads and 40 groove disks and i still dont think there safe !!!!, hence why im upping em but i can stop with them on a motorway, the do fade abit on the a507 which is duel carridge ways and roundabouts, infact switch faded em abit on there


i agree its niot a good idea, it can be done and has been, just takes longer (and also cadence braking )

no i said that ya dont need em IF ya take ya time braking !!!!!!


but its a better idea to have em !!! then ya can shorten the braking distance and they ARE needed it ya on and off the brakes alot !!!!!!


long straight line with eniugh braking distance then ya dont need em !!!!

bhig brakes look though , thnats why im gettign em as i drive too slow to need big brakes
