Job situation...

Do normally do posts like this but hey ho...
Got made redundant last Novemeber and only managed 13days employment during December and January. Not that this was a real issue but thought I would mention it...
Fast foward to start of February, within a week I got offered 4 jobs similar to my old role, one of which was with my first proper employer.
After thinking long and hard I took the job that offered the most money and what I thought was the best prospects. For info there was 2.5k money difference between the highest and lowest job. The catch with the job though was a 60 mile round comute to the office through a notorious traffic black spot. As I also have to attend site for my job I didnt particular see this to be an issue... With these people I provide my own vehicle and get an allowance (A very healthy one) however have took a fuel card on.
Fast forward to the current day. I have now been offered a job with a company I have long respected which is 2 mile from my house. They have offered me 2.5k less than I am currently on and would have no choice but to have a company car with fuel etc.
Can you see my predicament?
My heart says go with the new offer but head says stay where I am. The new offer is a bigger Co but with less chance of promotion etc (I think), where I am now is relatively small, just had a management shake due to retirements etc and so more likely chance of promotion etc.
Can anyone offer advice/input of a useful nature![Wink](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)
Sorry to bore peeps with this, one thing I think it does say, things are on the way up?

i would go for the one with better long term prospects.
I got made redundant after 6 years service in dec and found a job within a week. Still here but its a contract job on more money and a lot closer to my house.
But I have been having interviews nearly every week for over 2 months now looking for a permanent role and fingers crossed i may get a couple of offers next week.
I would look at prospects first as ideally you dont want to be stuck in the same job for the next 5 years.

with the allowance are you having to put anything into maintaning or up keeping your car or does the allowance allow for this?
for example could you save 2.5K on travel going for the closer job?
what is Co?
in all id stick with the job you have unless commuting is a problem for you.
EDIT: oops took to long to right this out, if commuting does your head in then get the closer job deffinatly

Look at the bigger picture, in the grand scheme of things if your under 36k a year you are looking at £125 a month difference in pay based on my rough calculations.
However what are the prospects thst in 5 years you will be in the same position?
As for the traffic hotspot, ask your boss if he/she dont mind you starting an hour earlier and finishing an hour earlier - miss the traffic both ways that way :th:

Already mentioned the hours which arent a prob. Trouble is I tend to get side tracked and end up staying that hour I should have left early! Like now
