Before we start talking weights, can we come up with a common set of rules?
When it comes to maximum weight for a lift. How about this.
1. It is a one rep maximum only. Comparing your ten reps of 80kg vs someone elses 6 rep comfort zone etc, is pretty pointless
2. The weight we talk about is the combined total of the weight. They don't talk about " 3 plates either side" at the olympics. The weight is 20kg for the olympic bar and then the combined weight of all the plates.
Bench: 1* 107.5kg
Deadlift: 1* 220kgs (Have failed at 230kg, two inches over the knee but couldn't quite complete the lift, twice. Bah. But proud of 220kgs)
Squat: 1* 150kgs (I can do 6 reps of 150kg and have never tried a 1 rep max due to risk of back injury. So 150kgs is still my max proven)
I have had to take about 9 months out of the gym to concentrate on work, but want to get back into it, so have just joined another gym.
As for my guns, they are pathetic, so I would say about 10 inches, as I have never ever measured, nor set out with the ambition of having 'big biceps'. I prefer core overall strength from activities like the main big three compound movements.
I appreciate it is all talk, but this thread makes me miss lifting the weights!
Cheers,
RW
