Default probably a stupid question but...

i just done some work a fella and he paid me by cheque


got back from the gym to find a letter from the bank saying that it had bounced


what i wanna know is can i put the cheque back in or does it have to be a fresh one?





why dont people do cask its so much easier

You can ask for it to be re-presented.

He will get charged every time it is attempted and failed.

You can represent it.
I represent bounced cheques as many times as my bank will allow. I managed 7 once... amusing at Ł30 a time.

Cheque was for Ł50

I no longer take cheques off anyone after this became a regular occurence.

I think my personal best is around 7 times too. Was a certain company I used a while ago to build me a gearbox (NOT Bernie!!)!!

It is illegal to write a cheque if you know you haven't got the funds to clear it. To be honest, in this day and age, most people that write cheques are doing it to buy themselves a bit of time. The funniest bit is when they use a Debit card to guarantee it. You wonder why they didn't just pay with the card!! OK, sometimes, like when dealing by post a cheque is the best way, but other than that.
