Default Whats a Mk5 Rs2000 worth ?

I am looking at buying a mk5 rs2000,its a 2wd pre facelift model . Its been with the same owner for 11 years and has an extensive service history and has had a lot of money spent on it , The body has been looked after , its had some paintwork done and look fresh and presentable. the interior is very clean and im assured that it drives well. It seems like a honest ,cared for unmolested car ,

Here's the bad bit , as with all fords they rot , its had the floor sill on the N/S repaired for a previous Mot , but this time it had fail on corrosion on the O/S , the owner has decided that its maybe time to look for a new car.

I'm not bothered about the repairs but not sure what its worth realistically

I know alot of people don't rate them , but i've had few in the past and have a soft spot for them.

Anyone care to give me their opinion of what this car is worth in its current state ?

Cheers

Anna

Not a lot, as welding puts most buyers off. If it only failed on that then £5-700. If it failed on more, then he should be giving you money!

Looking through classifieds they are worth anything from £1500 in MOT'd condition, but if it has failed alot are going for the 1000-1200 mark, though it is difficult for them to sell at the moment due to peoples finance, if I had the money there is one in middlesex for 1550 that i would rip his arm off.

Thanks for the replys , I was thinking about the 500-700 mark , 1500 will buy a decent usable enough car but this one seems better than that but the welding will put alot of people off . I asked him how much he wants for it so i'm just waiting for him to get back to me.

if it needs welding, then the repair can become expensive, and difficult to do properly maintaining structural strength.as a rule of thumb.what rust you can see, will probably double in size when you have removed carpets and trim.
if you can buy it cheap, and are prepared to strip it and replace the panels properly, then go for it.
i think you may be better just spending the extra to get a good one.imo

the carpets have been stripped out by the garage already , so the extent of it is known , although having restored many old fords i know what lies below is always alot more work than what you can see at first , I can fabricate and have all my own stuff so it will just be my time and repair panels.

It will all depend on what this guy is looking for the car.
