Default Remapping a transit

My motorhome is a Transit 04 2.4 TDCI with 125ps i noted that EVO CHIPS (in which we are a dealer) quotes 30bhp more and 20% better fuel economy will this in anyway waer the engine at all, as it has to be as reliable as can be, its only done 13500 miles but dont want premature wear, i see it will put out nearly 155ps

Whats your thoughts guys & gals?

I guess you have to drive it sensibly though, i assume if driving briskly fuel consumption takes a big dive?

not really mate, it does really well when i first got the thing the comp was saying 390miles to a full tank after 10k and it being chipped the comp now says 547miles to a tank no difference in driving style, BUT if i do want to trap on and sit above the speed limit every now and then it drops to 497miles to a tank. So its totally worth chipping it mate(blufin) on mine

Phil, surely if your a dealer for EVO chips you should know this kind of info yourself and be able to offer it rather than asking on internet forums??

Or have I missed something? Sorry if I have!

As the engine will see more load during times of full throttle, it will experience more wear too during those times (but not the rest of the time), but it shouldnt be to any significant extent.

The MPG claims tend to be a bit excessive on most aftermarket chips anyone saying "up to" generally means "significantly less than"

I think you should do it, as there is no significant downside really and the extra power would be useful on hills im sure in quite a heavy vehicle like that.

...its quite quick as it is tbh, but we do alot of mountain work so she struggles a little up hills that are 1 in 3 lol the main thing that appeals is the better fuel consumption.

Enhanced Performance in Sussex does this type of remapping on vans and diesel cars with great results apparently. They do it differently though - instead of replacing the chip they give it a diagnostic check I think then as long as the engine is running right they re-write the existing ECU with different settings - also producing more power and better economy. I think they charge around £300. And the original map can be put back at any time if for some reason the customer isn't happy.

A mate of mind had his wife's diesel Mercedes done which upped the HP a lot. He was pissed off that his wife never noticed even though he reckoned it was a lot faster.

Mate evochips would be the best choice imho, we do a full diagnostic check first before the remap, every evochips dealer should apparently. (mind u when diyed my tt i didnt bother at first as i dont do them and the bloke who does was out, it was only kenny at msd telling me off that i did !!

The 90 part in the van details means that it's a 90ps not 115ps.
