Best Everyday Car Tyres.
Ok, just for future reference, I was wondering what tyres people used for on the road?
My car uses 205/40/17's if thats any use?

I was looking at tyres the other day, I want a great all round everyday tyre that not only performes in the dry but also offered some traction in the wet.
Uniroyal Rainsport 2's are by far the best multi purpose tyres you can get for your money. Plenty of people use them on here and will vouch for them, I've also read umpteen reviews across a variety of websites and they always rate them highly. Technically they were designed for the wet but provide fantastic grip in the dry also, pretty durable too providing your not lighting them up frequently

They are £88 per corner at my local stockists, I'm sure you could get them for £330-£340 with abit of haggling.

I found the eagles had a great compound for dry and damp, but coped terribly with standing water. They lasted about 12k
For similar money the uniroyals coped with standing water better, and were as good in the dap, but maybe not quite as good in the dry. Lasted about 17k
The kumhos were 2/3 the price, handled the standing water superbly and werent 100% as grippy in the damp as the other two but damn close. What was important tho was you werent panicking about going from awesome grip to no grip like the eagles, they were more progressive and predictable. Sold the car with them on,but they were lasting noticeably better than the eagles.

I've used most of the above, of the above the Uniroyals RAINSPORT 2'S get my vote, but I wouldn't but them NOW, as I've used HANCOOK VENTUS EVO V12, just makes all the others inferior, best tyre I have ever used 24 years of driving, not cheap, they also work ace in the wet(and dry), have fantastic feel, are very predictable, very quiet, don't tramline, last well, but best of all work below 7C where all the above struggle.
It's about time the uk driver saw the sense of winter or snow tyres, they make a massive difference.
Another good one is Vredestein Sportrac 3, and even better the Ssesanta(sp), would be my no1 choice but not in my size!!
