Firstly Stop trying to get it started and change the oil, otherwise when it does start you'll end up with a rebuild.

is it possible the rings are stuck after being sitting for a while? just trying to think how fuel would get into the oil, only way i can think of unless your head has cracked or rings/pistons are fucked. as said tho do a oil change b4 u do start it or disaster will strike, id do a compression test b4 anythin tho

I'd try a comp test followed by a wet comp test, see if your rings are fubard.
Either that nd you're ridiculously overfueling.

could be possible with the car sitting for so long, as for the fuel ending up in the sump it has had a few people baffled now, compression test when engine is cold is good and same per cylinder, ideally would like to it started and warmed up to get a better compression test, before i start stripping the head off.

Hi mate the flap in the metering head is stuck fully open and causing it to flood. had exactly the same thing happen to me.It may need a strip down and rebuild. remove the air filter and you will see the flap stuck or very stiff

if it isnt the flap the roller pin that is on the other end of the flap is stuck/rusted/shitted up which is the same as the flap being fully open

Does the flap have any ressistance(spl) as the roller at the other end maybe stuck in its housing so even though the flap is free its like its full throttle?

And if the rollers ok, does the pin in the actual fuel metering unit itself move freely up and down, as i have found that when stood for a while they go stiff. Then the first time you start it up with any throttle the pin gets stuck up inside the unit and allows costant fuel as per full throttle?

yeah its all moving parts that are subject to dirt an so on... the very same thing happened to me when i rebuilt my rs turbo many years ago, just luck my mate was an rs trained tech and jumped straight on it. we stripped it down, new gaskets and a full soak and clean and it was fine forever more..

Just an idea that might help...hope it gets sorted.

bobbi96,im pretty sure a rebuild isnt on the cards....i could be wrong but im 99 percent sure its the metering head that is playing up..... im not even sure if you can get gaskets for them anymore so be careful when stripping. good luck mate

No problem mate, you can still get all of the banjos and washers too, the only thing i couldn't get hold of was the bolts that hold the unit together as they no longer stock them.

hey joe cheers for your help, you was right the pin had rusted in one place causing the flooding, i managed to get it running but its a bit rough sounds like its misfiring then when you turn it off it struggles to start again and the flap on the metering unit sounds like its back firing when tryin to start, you gota love these cars keep you well busy lol.
