I have been looking at loads of abandon-ware sites recently. For those who don't know, its basically games which are now so old they are no longer sold, the companies that owned the rights either no longer exist OR don't care any more and aren't interested in protecting any revenue.
Now back in 1994, I was utterly hooked on an old game called Transport Tycoon. Basically you build everything from roads and trucks to planes and trains and ships. Transport Cargo and passengers to make as much money as you could. I love business sims and I would spend WEEKS, building my transport empire.
Now yesterday I found this
http://www.openttd.org/en/
Basically a bunch of programmer savvy fans have reverse engineered the original code and rebuilt it from the ground up for all the up to date for all the new OS systems.
And now I find myself totally addicted again!![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)

Seriously if you type any game name and put abandonware after it you should be able to find most things.

yeah, I been a fan of
OpenTTD for a while. I too, was totally hooked on that game. Its just so addictive.
OK, anybody remember playing the WING COMMANDER series on the PC?
Back in the day, these games were just amazing graphically, and really pushed the hardware. I remember seeing Wing Commander II running on a 386SX and being amazed at the gorgeous graphics and Sound Blaster DIGITIZED SPEECH - something that you just didn't hear back in 1991!![Big Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)

Well now some enthusiasts have re-created the game engine and released several Wing Commander inspired games, such as PRIVATEER Gemini Gold: All open source and free![Grin](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)
