So you can do these yourself as long as it a standard Turbo right? As you only need to get a 360 degree thrust bearing positioned correctly.Right?Wrong?
easily rebuilt by competant person as mostly reversal of stripdown. Kits come with 270 bearing, which seats on pegs fitted to core so hard to get wrong (have seen it done Most damage ive seen by diy builds is damage to rear oil seal on shaft when been forced into core. little pressure and twisting will tease her in job done. Personally for reliability issues id always balance then too, just think if you take a tyre off an alloy and put it back on it will be outta balance , same applies if a shaft is removed and refitted from a comp wheel, 360 bearings correctly fitted require machining to the core and dont come with rebuild kits.....
Main thing............. Cleanliness is the biggest thing to get right
360 kit is just bearing, thrust runner and bolts and will need machining to core to enable fitment of bolts, (270 bearings use spring fitted to rear of backplate to hold bearing in place )
I am competent enough i reckon. Will have to see wont we. Certainley spools smooth and has next fook all play now. If it blows or sommat when i get it back on road i have a spare half decent turbo, so i aint fussed. If ya dont try then ya dont learn do ya????
