Default in car dvd connection question

I got a ripspeed DVD player for the car the in dash one with 3.5 inch screen had it given to me and as my sony is shit i am gonna fit it but reading the manual it says i need to connect a cable to the handbrake switch which will enable dvd to work when handbrake is on. i cant be arsed with running wires down there so is there way of bypassing, ie just conncting to a live or something.

dont wanna watch films on the move, infact not really bothered about watching films in the car at al but still want it to work if i can.

any ideas
ta tom
