Exactly! Quite a few people with high incomes are now moving to Gibraltar for that reason. It would be better for this country if they were taxed less and stayed.

But then again our government is inept at best.

Or we could just write and ask for people called Mark not to pay tax?
would that be ok for you?

well.. i feel it might be a bit rough on some of my colleagues but I reckon I could probably live with that!
can you also ask him to limit it to people who were called Mark from birth? (don't want all those cheeky scroungers cashing in on my good name!)

That's kind of what happened last year when the banks were in the thick of it and starting to take government money as my missus had one of her annual bonuses scrapped but then they added the amount to her already high annual increase so she ended up with a 30+% pay increase which in the long run for her is a better deal.

When I worked in IT in the city for a bank, the bonuses for the minions actually weren't great, and they the people who doing all the work and getting all the pressure.
Sure the senior managers were doing well though.
Just like to thank Gordon Brown for loosing me ££££ by introducing LloydsTSB to HBOS and nearly bringing Lloyds, a fairly well run bank, to its knees.
Wonder if I can claim off Gordon for that bit of financial incompetance???

I bet most people don't understand how bonus structures work in the city.

Having said that, one of the brokers in our building hit the headlines a while back with this:

Doesn't exactly paint a good picture does it!
