As usual it doesnt live up to the hype. But that said its not a bad film, the 3D deffinately helped it.
They could have cut the film down a bit and made it faster flowing I think.
I'd say go see it, cos it is a visual treat. You may not think its the next Shawshank Redemption, but its still entertaining.

i saw it in 3d and its visually the best thing ive ever seen even though its a non 3d film adapted to 3d so the 3d aspect isnt really good compared to other 3d only films but i was still so impressed with it
worth the time and money

Lived up to the hype in my opinion, I'm looking forward to the Blu-Ray release as in 3D the picture was a little 'fuzzy' but still amazing at the same time. It got to the point where I couldn't tell the difference between what was CGI or not.
Worth going to see!

Great film IMHO. Loved all the CGI stuff, the whole environment is CGI which some people don't like, but I love the way it allows film makers to do stuff that would be impossible any other way.
3d effects really added to the film too.
Worth a watch. Not the best film I've ever seen, but deffo one of the good ones.

I watched it in 3D and thought is was ok, reckon I will enjoy it more on blue-ray as I spent most of my time chasing those little fairy things round the screen instead of appreciating the overall picture
I also honestly felt the story was a complete ripoff to a film I watched as a kid called "Fern Gully".
Big-Dan.

Saw it tonight and believe the hype!!! Well... almost. Yes Avatar is something very special in the visual department. After 20min you forget that 90% of this film is CGI, and instead, sit through most of it gob smacked, it is an incredibly beautiful movie, with massive effects, but keeps coherent enough to follow unlike the shaky camera work of a lot of recent movies,
But, I hate to say this, Cameron just let this film down in the story department. Is Pochontas, Fern Gully, Dances with Wolves, all rolled into one, but somewhere along the line, I didn't get as emotionally attached to the characters. Abyss made me cry, Titanic was sad, I didn't get this in this film. And that's my main gripe.
My other gripe is some of the concepts are a little contrived.. The Na'Vi have hair?? Why?? When absolutley nothing else on Pandora has hair. It's to hide the nerve tendrils? In hair?!? I couldn't think of anything that would be more useless for the job. Why to the Na'Vi whoop like Native Americans? Couldn't they think up anything else?
Still this is a great film, could have been better. Still worth a watch.

I've been to the cinema to see it twice, both times in 3D (and one of those times was in cinema in Poland lol) - So yeah, I thought it was amazing!
The computer generated world of Pandora is just breath-taking - you forget that it was created on a computer - it just looks SO beautifully real, as do the CGI characters of the Na'vi.
I thought the story was very good, and although the film is over 3 hours long, I never once got that 'cinema seat' itch - even during my second viewing of the film.
To summarise - a film like this does not come along often. It's a big budget blockbuster, the kind of film that really shines on the big screen, so I'd do it justice and watch it in the cinema.

Awesome film. Loved every minute of it. Flawless CGI, a half decent story, not as preachy as I'd expected, and plenty of entertainment. Some silliness, but find me a recent big bucks film without some of that in it!

I thought it was awaesome as well, and found that within 20 minutes or so I was so engrossed in the images I all but forgot I had the ''silly specs'' on.
And I think it was actually good that Cameron extended the story so that the oppressed natives won, and not the gung ho money grabbing settlers after their minerals.
Would happily pay to go and see this film at least once more, and I don't say that about many.

Great film. Really liked it.
Weirdly its very much like Camerons last film, Titanic in how it caters for men and women.
First hour- lovey dovey chick flick shite for the ladies...
middle bit- starts getting exciting
last hour - All action, thrills and explosions etc for the men!
I had to go out for a piss though! very long film!
