painter advice - matt black
looking at doing one of my cars matt black for something different, i dont really want to go down the rattle can look, would prefer it to be a proper finish all over and even, as said not rattle can if can be avoided.
what kind of paint is available and do you need to use certain primers for this and any other things apart from thinners in the mixture to thin it up for the gun?
cheers

Did my old golf myself, admitally i got a bit anal and rubbed it right back with all the proper tools as i worked in a garage at the time, also smoothed some trim out that ran the length of the car, but did it with about 15-20 rattle cans if i remember correctly and just took my time with it, thought it come out well..

theyre not exactly 100% these days with their service nowadays either, prefer buying from dingbro the paint quality is a lot better from them now although their only selling water based which knocks out the matt black idea for me from them
dar - the cars pretty much rubbed down perfect now all repairs done so its just a case of cleaning it, panel wipe, mask the windows up and then paint it.
golf looks stunning like that!
how much a can did you pay?

old john? aye its still him there mate he's not too bad but when they make mistakes on the paint colour matching their excuses are quality to back out of it.
best one ive heard yet is this - "it must be the type of gun and the spray pattern that your using thats changing the colour of the paint slightly, or your using the wrong type of thinners"
they supply us with the thinners!
