That's shit mate, just before christmas. I'm an electrician and my work has picked up loads in the last couple of months so hopefully you'll find somethin soon, any local television/white goods shops near you as these often offer fitting services and might be able to chick some work your way?

Just started in October mate, doing it everyday as open learning from home and got my first practicals and exams in January! I'm hoping to get through it all by next summer! I'm OK with the workings out and formula's in Lv2 but need more hands on tbh. My wifes brother is a spark and am supposed to be going in the new year to start an extension with him so that will be good.!

Can't beat practical experience imo, all the theory could be fairly easy for someone with a bit of savvy....actually doing the job/picking up all the ways of doing things in the real world is a totally different ballgame! Good luck with it lads, as i said work's definately starting to pick up, and a trade is always a good skill to have

Couldn't agree more mate! I can actually do the basics......A1 rings with spurs, light circuits and even consumer units etc but that doesn't really help me if I was to get a job that I had never done before as I'll be starting up on my own again once qualified!

Yeah you learn a great deal from hands on work, i used to work with my mate on my days off ect for nowt just to get some experience and it was the best thing i ever did. Helping on re-wires ect was much better than doing circuits on boards like at college.

Thanks rstdave

bang out some leaflets and do it alone
we charge Ł200 an aerial and a 2 pointer satelite will be that too, free sat is your friend these days, i wouldnt even entertain aerial, put leaflets saying 'beat the digital and poor aerial signal, freesat is you friend', you'll do alright

poor time of year but fitting up dishes on caravanning sites is big money too!
