Your not allowed to broadcast it, so technically even if there's just you at work and a customer comes in it infringes the rules. There are people employed to check too!! IIRC Stu had them come round his place and kick off.

ffs, so im listening to the radio in the bodyshop say, working away on a car, customer comes in "or supposed customer" and then says turn radio off i can hear it its infringing broadcasting rights telling me im not allowed basically to listen to the radio now for joe bloggs to walk in and complain?

what about shops now on the high street playing cd's for to tempt people to buy them, do the rules cover this as well?

if so....

FUCK THAT!!! my bloody workshop and my radio, i listen to it how i feel.... can see next there being a radio tax on the country.... what a fucking joke!

I work for argos and we are legally allowed to play the radio/ cd's etc in the stockroom as it is not classed as an office. We arent however allowed to play it in my office unless I wear headphones.

Shops e.g. HMV should maintain a register of what is played, when and for how long and send it off to PRS on one of their forms. They offer a cheaper fixed-rate license for office/workshop use IIRC.

IIRC if more than 3 people can hear it you need the licence. A place i know doesn't let customers in the workshop so they don't need to get the licence.

As i'm in a pub its based on the floor space. As said total joke, if we put some more speakers in for another room we have to pay more! It did go down for us this year but its still a big expense.

They're all money spinners, we need 2 TV licences too one for the living accomodation and one for the pub!
