I've cracked it - I can call it an Escort Cosworth WRC spoiler, that way there is absolutely no way there can be any confusion with current WRC cars . With this in mind, the F1 springs can be called "DFV F1 springs", which would also clarify things here as well . Much better than "historic" .

But then I also know there difference in many of the above items.
i would say i'm 'fairly' clued up on engines/engine building/motorsport etc. well certainly no less than alot of people on here, but i didn't no the above. hence why i asked the question

You can't even spell "know", so the jury is out on your motorsport knowledge .

You probably DID know, but your brain has since been addled when you moved to the dark side and purchased that Jap bean tin thing .

Next Dave will be joining you, and he will also forget all his accumulated Cosworth knowledge when he has no need for it due to the reliability (AKA character-less to us ardent Cossie fans ) of his Jap crap Evo .

Therefore, myself and anyone else with this kind of spec should really be reminded by yourself and cronies et al, that we have "historic WRC spec" items, so as not to confuse people .
mike, i think your comparison to 'wrc' or historic wrc spec items is incorrect. When someone is selling a 'wrc' spoiler for an escort you know its not current. As most people on here know when escorts were in wrc. but the term f1 implies something that has been going for donkeys years. so how would you know unless you ask

i didn't realise this was a spelling test mike. However know is the correct spelling, i just used it in the wrong context. oops and i type i instead of I.

Sheady doesn't use good grammer on this forum either but that doesn't effect his technical knowledge does it. i'm sure he's made you look silly in technical discussions many a time!!

PLease someone shut this thread down now. My question has been answered lol

Actually, I don't recall Mr Slim ever having done that, as he doesn't stoop so low as attempting to belittle people, he has Chip for that .

I was attempting to inject some humour, I apologise if it seemed like you were receiving a lesson - perhaps you have spent too much time around Chip to believe that was the case .

I cant help on the basis of which engine builders are good or not, as I build my own engines, but I guess you can just look at which ones build the type of engine you want and have plenty of happy customers and not many unhappy ones.

MAD / NMS / SCS all seem to be pretty good bets for a YB for example.

Couldnt tell you if one is particuarly better than the other as I have never used any of them, but if I was going to do so I would probably go to Mark just because I have always found him very approachable and I know lots of satisfied customers of his.

I dont think you will ever definitively be able to say that one engine builder is clearcut better than another though!

Seems to vary on the conditions. The last time I was there (Feb this year), I only ran it at 1.6 bar, as they had changed the warning process, so that basically there was none - you trip the meter and you're off for good .

However, at 4.45, I got into a battle with Lee and thought fuck it, if I get black flagged and kicked off now, who cares at this late stage - so cranked the boost up to the full 2.2 bar and let loose. Had great fun keeping Lee at bay for the last few laps (even though I had no idea he was cheating - I was concentrating that much ) and didn't get flagged :dunno:.

I'm not stupid though, this could have been because they couldn't seperate the noise between myself and Lord Manning, and he can basically hit 300dB and they'll still let him keep going . Perhaps I just need to make sure I always stay within a few car lengths of him .

That will be all the cosmetic parts, which are all copies of the originals - apart from the wings, as they were done by the same guy that did them for the works cars .

One that supplies what you ask for at a price you both agree on.
I got just what i asked for so for me thats the best engine builder.

If you hang on a few months Danny & his mate Luke will be facing MAD for the Topspeed crown 'F1' AGAINST 'Isky' if you like .
I asked for an engine to set records, for 5 years MAD have delivered so perhaps he deserves a bumlick .
In case Mike gets excited, that last line is only a joke .

I wish Chip would become historic Chip and not post here any more!

The following would happen:

1. This website would become for more harmonious.

2. MAD's popularitary would rise ten fold

If you wish that, simply add me to your ignore list, problem solved.

But then you couldnt spend so much time moaning about me as you do, so I guess that you enjoy that too much to actually want me on ignore
