help needed on entering america with a conviction/caution
last week i got in a taxi while out on the town at about 12.30am i decided id had enough and wanted to go home, after i flagged a taxi down and on the way home the taxi driver says to me "early night" and i replied yeah a feel sick not im going to be sick but i feel sick, and there and then he put his left indicator on and said abruptly "get out" and i said "eh why what for" and he replied get out if you going to be sick, and i said "im not thats why im going home" and he replied "i dont care you owe me 3.60 now get out", so i gave him 10 pounds and argued with him to take me home which was only another mile up the road, he gave me his change and i got out the car then he drove away as i was only half out the car and drove over my right foot just the edge of me boot. so i walked home and 500 yards from my home i got arrested by two female police officers and took to the station where they put me in a cell till the morning saying i needed to sober up and will talk to me in the morning.
they then question me reading out the taxi drivers statement which he says all of the above and that i pulled his jacket and broke the zip and then punched the back of the passenger side headrest, which i knew i didnt do.
i told them my side of the story and denied the pulling of the jacket and hiting the headrest
so they decided to release me on bail till the 25th january as my story didnt match his story.
now im worried that i might get a criminal record and i have a holiday to new york then vegas in march and they might not let me in to the country.
does anyone have any experience or information that might be able to help me thanks for reading and replying richy.

Hate to be the one to say this, but this will more than likely go in the favour of the Taxi guy (should it come to trial).
End of the day, you were gassed, he was tryin to earn an honest livin', yada yada yada..........
As far as the USA bit goes, i'm not 100% sure, but i think it'll depend on what the charge is. They don't like drugs, violence etc..........

What a grade A twat! Funny how he would call the police when you got out? I mean, it's not like you highly pissed him off and if you did, he needs to get a grip of himself.

I had to get a visa to go to America 3 years ago because of a driving conviction, spent about 4 hours in the consulate place and had a parking ticket when I got out

I have gbh , abh , offensive weapon, plus a few others but didnt even give it a second thought when i went to the states a couple of years back.
i think it has to be a fairly severe charge before they stop you getting in .

Depending on the year, if you got done for firearms then surely you got 5 years in jail, thus meaning you can't go there ever??
Unless it was a pansy air weapon, which isn't really a firearm at all....

Dont forget firearms also include items like cs gas , pepper spray and home made devices . I wasnt aware that it was an instant 5 years for f/a offenses tho .

Firearms presents a broad spectrum of offences.
If your found in possesion of a hand gun, sawn of shot gun, or any proper gun you should not have, since 2004 its 5 years minimum (unless very exceptional circumstances!)
If your found in possesion of CS Spray, Tasar, Air gun, they are termed as firearms but do not attract the 5 year sentence. So you can look big and hard to your mates saying you have a firearms conviction, but that is only because of the criminal act they fall under!
Now I am sure if you have been in jail for 4 years + its much harder to get a visa? Might be wrong though.
