Come to a end
As some of you may know l have decided to call it a day with YUM
After owning her for over 11 years wants something new, so l will break YUM for parts, Now some people will say you cant is a legend well sorry to them people but it is my car and it will get broken. It looks like l do have a buyer for the shell which is good as thats a big bit out of the way.
Will let Mark know if he needs anything from YUM for his customers and l believe that Graham (shit box) could be interested in a fair few bits as he is building a high spec cossie.
So just need someone to purchase engine with ECU and then the bits will get listed. Engine has only covered 2k miles its had every possible thing done to a YB and is the same spec as Rod ( Rod do you need a spare engine)
Now im sure this topic will turn to crap as do most of my topics do
Im also trying to decide to run it on the charity day at Martins in Dec, the plan was to drop it over to Marks and get the rolling road set up done before then, so will have a chat with mark to see what he thinks
At the moment l dont have a gold membership but will speak to Stu as helen is a gold member so l can start pricing and list the parts for sale when the engine has been sold.
Cheers

Been to 194, now hopefully this will make sense
Why would l need to get back in YUM and risk my life for 6mph? also if something went wrong thats over 40k down the drain. so when you look at it like that it makes sense?
Cheers

sorry to hear this as it is without doubt one of the best Cossies out there, but I do understand that it is alot of money to have tied up in a 15 year old ford and that there are greater priorities in life. good luck with the sale
although just to add, for the sake of the Ł10 gold member fee, against what you are likelly to get back, I would say its money well spent

Be a shame to see it broken for spares but it's your car and your cash so ultimately your decision
People will always remember it anyway.
Funny thing is i dug the old engine out of Yum out the shed last night to start the rebuild of the 3 door spooky. LOL
Good luck with the decision anyways Dave

but that was the whole point of building the car? your insurance should cover the cost if it gets damaged, and the car is now fully caged iirc, so should be safe? otherwise what is the point of the cage, etc...

I wouldnt run it on the rolling road day dave quit while the going is good! im not saying that the engine / box wont take it but just imagine somthing like the box fucked up or engine had bother then you would need to fix it again before you sell it. Just my opinion if your not taking the car further you have nothing to prove now.

been telling you to do it for years mate!
hope you don't change your mind again....
you ARE doing the right thing in my opinion.
Get something you can enjoy every day or at weekends without huge repair bills hanging over your head all the time!
Get a car thats a fun hobby, not something that ended up taking over your life financially and emotionally like that thing did at the end!
Hope you get lots back from breaking it and with the least hassle possible.

Car has been ready since l got it fixed from Germany, have been waiting ages for one of the mags to feature it and have a crack at the 200mph, it just did not happen.
The insurance company would only cover half what its worth in bits.

The offer's been open Dave, but the location has been difficult as you know. Would also be a lot wiser to schedule it for a time when the weather is likely to be more favorable. If you change your mind the offer is still on the table, but it would be in the new year.

I thought i was the only one that took so long to do things like that.... Sounds like a wise decision to break it though, my cars not worth nearly as much as YUM and it'd defo be better off breaking it, way i look at it is, if you sell it, chances are the next person will break it anyway. Sick of cossies now, if i still have one this time next year I'll be very surprised.

You've gotta run the car on the rolling road. Even if you've already listed and sold the parts...
One thing... could you make sure the next car you buy doesnt have a registration number that ends in a word? Cheers

Bit of a shame it has to be broken as its a really nice car but it does seem the..... way to go with BIG build cossies to claw back some money. Dont people like owning cossies anymore? Ive always wanted one and certainly wouldnt be put of by imminant repair bills forever looming over.... its part and parcel of having a cossie imo.
Good luck with a swift sale.
