Guess your financial situation is very different then....

for most people if they were selling a car because the fun to cost ratio wasn't working out for them, and they had one last go and blew £15k's worth of engine to bits.

Agree 100%, that's why I reckon Dave should not run his car on the rollers, having said that I (as many others) would like to see it.

also for anyone interested in the engine it gives buyer a double reasurance as to it making 700hp and theyre getting that

Its a strange one to see folk saying don't risk putting it on the rollers incase it blows or abandon the top speed event. This doesnt give interested buyers of the engine much confidence!

No!!
A Horror story is being killed or badly burnt, youre f**ked if either happens.
If £15k is going to f**k your finances then you dont start down the road of chasing records or 200mph surely.
I started this caper at 57, when i had everything i required in life & both my kids were set-up, I personally would not have started chasing big figures unless that was the case.
Are you telling me that people are risking their finances to run a Cossie, then im afraid im beat cos thats crazy its only a bl**dy car lads.

i agree with rod to a point
and i agree with porkie to a point

but just because you have money to burn doens't mean that you can't be killed if things go wrong

not knowing daves financial situation, i don't know if he's remortgaged his house to get to 200mph or if it's just pocket change, he's given up as he's invested too much money and has now had enough

if it means he gets a decent return on his outlay against giving it beans and possibly losing a big chunk of it, i'd save the money, unles i were mega minted and had just won 45 mill on the lotery, and even then i'd still think about it

ithink dave's head has won the battle with his heart, rather than the battle with his wallet

There comes a time when youve had enough, and enough is enough, be it your getting too old, you cant afford to carry on, cant justify to keep on spending or you simply cant be arsed because the buzz aint there anymore, and I reckon Dave's reason is somewhere in there.

Shame to have all the build up to the big BHP engine and not ever know what it makes or know how it performs in the car Dave? Its a stunning car yes but not a legend until you have done that surely?

I would want to remember it for consistently achieving decent times, being a track weapon and not going wrong but I all I can recall is a couple of quick runs at Brunters a couple of years back and loadsa engine problems?

Told you in the Queens head that you were MAD to not accept that 35K offer 2 years back!!!!!

I know that's gonna be taken negatively by most but its how I see it?

Of course things can go wrong but you cant let it rule your life, you will never do anything.

No one has money to burn Dojj , but maybe you lads have other priorities that are not present at 64.

Wow!! I dont go into a record attempt thinking like that its all maths to me so the fiscal risks & physical risks have been thought about, im quitting after September 2010 because my financial situation changes, running a record breaking Cossie will not be possible because my budget for such a luxury stops. So i will sell the car, had a couple of offers already one from someone i deffo cant mention .

I think by not running it on the rollers it shows Dave has no confidence in the engine lasting. Before anyone starts im not trying to start a slagging match but surely after all the time, effort and money he'd wanna see what it makes. IMO whoevers buying it shouldnt buy it unless it lasts on the RR.

The engine will take it no problems but running it at full power the 3k gearbox is a great risk of shitting itself.

mate

you are talking pure bollox. the cars done 194mph ffs, lol shouldnt buy it unless it lasts on a rolling road, are you on crack ?, dave bought the orignal engine of me without it even being fired up. its called trust, and if you know mark shead as close as i do, he will never walk away from a problem.

if your planning to buy a cosworth at this level then you will need the cash in the bank to fix any problems (there will be, just ask martin/porkie/mike )

i gave up as i cudnt be bothered anymore and it was taking to long for the development work. unless you have been in the situation , you have very little to comment on

you see it all the time on here, people set themselves goals that they just cannot afford to meet.

people just go for the 7,000,000 hp engine and cannot afford the rest, or they buy the parts that are second best to what they need.

but the worst of it, if you get scared of damageing it because you have too much money in it, I just cant understand how you become scared of using something you worked so hard to build?
we have this risj everytime we do an event, all your doing is a straight line run with nothing round you !

try 130mph between trees on gravel, that takes balls in a 30-50k car built in your garage.

its the right descision if your too scared to risk the loss or have lost the interest because you built the car with the wrong budget hence the un-reliability.

If it was mine i wouldnt put it near the rollers as i said before quit while the going is good you never know the min that cossies are going to play up! but if the engine is all that it would be a good advertisment. After all its not going to be a proven 200mph engine now.
