Getting to work
How far do you travel and how long does it take you??
Ive never worked more than 10miles from home and it takes me about 1/2hr.
Interested what other people do as im trying to decide whether I could put up with an hours train journey/50min drive on top of that for a job ive seen.
thanks

Used to do 70mins each way.
Now do (literally) 3mins. 10mins if i take the scenic route through town
If the job is worth it, i'd go for the extra commute.
I used to enjoy it sometimes, clear my head in the morning/chill out.

25 miles normally 30 mins, today slightly longer, Van roof rack appearing in your headlights on the road infront when your.......errrrrrrrmmm motoring (unlit motorway) means you aint getting a straight run to work Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Quite a wide range on here so far then!
It'd be 50ish miles, about an hour for me.
Dont know how long id have the patience for that. The motorway is a shit one, theres some proper rough areas to drive through and then there's the traffic of Greater Manchester (although its only a few main roads from the motorway).

worst is the arse end of cornwall or say dover that will take nigh on 4 hours to get to. then do 6 or more jobs and drive home...
unless im away over night etc.

If it involves driving on the M6 or M62, fuck that! Unless the job is worth the aggro of sitting in all that crap on there.
I travel 3 miles and it takes me 5 minutes at 10am, or 40 mins at 8am. So I go in at 10am!

My job is around 4 miles away as the crow flies and it takes me 10 minutes to get there through town traffic.
50 miles would be a bit much for me. Did a 35 mile journey in the past and that was more than enough.
It's all well and good taking the job, but will any increase in pay be offset by higher fuel costs? If so, then is it worth the extra effort for no benefit?

ellie i sometimes have to be in mcr for before 10 am and have to battle my way along the 56 then the a6 and its a right pita most times, i would try the journey by car and remember if you get the job you probably will want a diesel.
just sold a chick a diesel clio cos she works in mcr and lives in mancot and needed around 60mpg to save wasting money.

as im only in the market for part time work while a student then i wont travel more than 10-15 miles as otherwise its not financially worth it with travel costs these days.
for full time i will go further but again costs are important. Whats the point in paying out £200 a month in travel costs unless your earning more than that on top of what youd get locally or the job has much better career prospects????
