Default saph cossie vs focus st

In a bit of a pickle about what to do, have a nice tidy 93 saph cos at the minute, fine for summer everyday use but i dont really want to be abusing it through winter, which means a second car (an rs2000 at the minute) dont have a garage at home so storing the cossie means taking up space in my unit (not the biggest in the world as it is)

Thinking of buying a second hand st and selling the cossie and rs2000, basically just so i dont have to be a tart about using and abusing it and not have to worry about where to keep it, I know they are common as muck and wont get as much attention as the sierra but they are practical!

what do you guys think? how do they compare etc, opinions from those that have owned / currently own both especially!

Look at a mk1 FRS. Had the same dilemma myself but the FRS wins hand down.

I've got both but my Sapphire is a 2 wheel drive.

The ST is a very nice daily driver and mine is remapped but it doesn't compare to the fun I can have in my Cosworth. The way the power is delivered and the way it handles and feels is very different, for a day to day car I'd take the ST, for fun I'd take the Cosworth every time.

You can use the ST daily though without any worries about breaking down etc and you can leave them pretty much anywhere, I wouldn't like to leave my Cosworth in a supermarket carpark for instance. For fun it just doesn't really do it for me, I'm thinking of selling it and getting an M3 instead.

Depends on which ST you actually mean? focus st170? focus st225?
if its the 225 model then i would say be suprised how many compliments you get on a dailey basis! Women love ST's! and i dont mean owning them!
Having an ST as a dailey car is really nice! its comfortable and when you need the power its there, no lag!
Handling is very good standard, uprated to eibachs or h&r makes it even better.
Had mine a year now and i still wont sell it, bought a remap for it and it really is a car that is hard to beat!
servicing is reasonable at around £250 every 12 months
Tyres cost average around £125-135 a corner
you get 3 specs, go for st2 or st3 if you prefer leathers or cloth!
st2/3 come with xenon as standard

only gripe i have is that after driving the focus rs (old shape)
i find the gear stick a bit soft! would of preferred abit more mechanical-ness.

I typed a reply and net crashed but basically i said the ST felt "softer" and the gearchange was what i meant most.

The ST is a great car, not as special as a cossie but very usable, reliable and soo much better than an FRS.
I loved the look of the FRS really wanted one, until I drove it! The torque-steer was truly awful, something which doesn't afflict the ST. That and the (in my opinion) much nicer interior made the ST the winner for me.

st's dont break down?

tell my misssues sister, hers has twice and she only had it 2 months

1st the steering decided not to
then the alt went tits up and made some horrific noises,
then i looked on the stoc and some people put lists of the breakdowns and callbacks they had, and thats some lists

Can you get a short shifter for the ST if you find the gear change sloppy and want a more "macho" gear change? I love my short shifter for my focus, most other gearboxes I think feel like pudding in comparison I'd say have a look at both the Focus RS and the ST and take your pic after having driven or taken a passenger ride in one.
