I got one, as Mi16s are prone to surge.. they work..
Ive made it surge a couple of times, and can tell when it does, as the oil pressure gauge drops to 25 psi .... where it stays while its surging.. If the accusump wasnt there, the pressure would disappear altogether..
then it pops back up to the usual 70 psi or so when the engine 'recoveres'
even when put in the boot like mine (nowhere else to put it really) with all that pipe to the engine, it still saves your bearings.

I use a manual valve, as it said it gave faster 'reaction' times to surge etc.
i use a 4 pint one, the 2 pint ones are ment for bike engines etc really,
4 pint for normal sorta size 4cyl engines.. the 6 pint is for v8s etc.
costs a fook load to fill the engine up with oil now though

so am i right in thinking you need to close the valve just before you switch off engine and reopen it before start up if you want to use the pre-oil thing?

yeah thats basically right.
If you open the valve before you start the engine, the oil pressure guage rises to about 35 psi and holds there for sorta 5 or 10 seconds before you even start the engine.
The only difference with the electronic one being, turning the key in the ignition
(to give it an ignition live) opens the gate..

Rob's astra survived Mallory on 888 tyres, and was going round the outside of plenty of evos and scoobys etc who were trying, so was definately cornering hard.
Im reasonably confident it wouldnt have done so without the accumsump, as gerrards is a known killer of XE/LET engines!
Ive got one in my nova as I like doing donuts
(its rwd BTW, im not on about mcdonalds trays, lol)

Porkie said he had one or two of them when i first asked about them too.
Obviously, these things are not a cure for oil surge... they literally stop you from seeing a rod or two
when the engine does surge.
