I have come to the conclusion he can't own a car that don't chatter
This is our red s2............ not bad for mfi running about 5 psi Who says you can't make them chatter lol lol lol

this is a really stupid question but how does it make that noise??? i know its not a straight forward dump valve cos it sounds more like a blow off valve??? whats it had fittted/changed??

Tone it can still be the good old days just get ya arse to some shows this year Any one would think chatter was dead and in scrap yard heaven from your post

how can i do that on a 1990 efi standard turbo.. run 8psi i think????? must of the R 5 turbos ive seen always do this ??? in fact mine did come to think of it ???but how/why...

they do chatter, its just the metering head/airbox etc. is in the way, so blocks out most of the sound...
running a decent ammount ofboost you should get some audiable "chatter" even on an ERST... just nowhere near as loud/pronounced as you would on a FRST or a Cossie etc.

on my mates s2 it ran 19psi i thought the chatter was coming from the air flow meter when the flap opened to let more air in and as the throttle is relased to change gear the flap it hits against the top of the unit causing the sound.
but really what it should be is the waste gate in the turbo opening and closing as the actuator is releasing the unwanted pressure.
rally cars use an extenal waste gate hence the long chatter as they tend to relase the pressure slowly as it is a piston type device probally worked off a spring which vents the fumes down a seperate pipe.
