Default new car (secondhand) and insurance

Need a bit of advice

What do you do about your insurance if you buy a car on the spot? If you have to take the car then and there for whatever reason. (distance etc)

I'll be looking at it after 5 so, it maybe a problem. I can not go back to pick it up

are you insured fully comp on a car, and is the car your buying insured by the current owner?

if so I THINK you would be covered third party?

The alternative if you dont get charged is to switch your insurance for after 5pm to that vehicle and if not bought, switch it back in the morning.

Not all fully comp polices offer 3rd party on any vehicle, mine doesn't. A lot of companies tie it in with age, some just plain don't do it. If you are insured fully comp on a car, check your policy- or for a fast answer just ring them.

Its not free on my insurance to change from one vehicle to another. Its a 25 quid handling fee each time

You must be with Adrian Flux?? Costs me bloody £25 a time too! But yeah check if you've got driving other cars on your policy, if so then its happy days. Obviously it only applies to cars that aren't registered to you but as it won't be until the docs have all been changed over you're good to get home.

your not insured 3rd party

the other person needs to be insured AND agree to let you drive it WHILE he is insured otherwise it wont wash.

im with chris knott (not for much longer tho whith what theyv been fobbing me off with) and have changed cars over nearly 10 times n its cost me nothing...in one year lol

Most fully comp policies allow third party cover to any vehicle NOT OWNED by you (ie policy holder), if he buys the car then he owns it, even if he is not yet the registered keeper. So, sorry mate but the above will not work and you will get done for no insurance.

Nevermind the insurance, nevermind the boll'cks

The guy claimed to be out all day to day, but i manged to get some transport to have a look at it during the day light.
Guess what, he was in 1st lie, many more to follow

Nevermind that, anyway. I didn't expect much for a 400 quid car. Although it was very clean-just like he described on the phone. Previous accident damage, all repaired etc etc. Needed a sill and tax. Had full mot

Good good, thinks I. Open the bonnet, the front cross member (below the slam panel) Is bent like a banana
apparently he works in the car trade, but didn't notice it

Anyway, I'm beginning to think my luck with fords has run out. I thinking of selling my valver engine and box and just buying a vauxhall shed
