Yes they are worth every penny to someone who craves an awesome picture, the clarity of the image even up close is absolutely amazing.
However, I personally would not pay what they are currently going for. Not a chance. I'm going to wait until they come down abit in price.

beat an lcd hands down..... and use 1/4 power of a plasma...... so when they are less than a grand for a decent one its well worth it....
i 'think' my plasma is 400w so a 100w telly has got to be worth it.....

well ive fitted one, it is as thick as my thumb. so looks much better on the wall cos it doesnt stick out at all. and the brackets they hang on are like a picture. they just have a bit of steel wire.
i think richer sounds sell the 40" samsung for a grand

i am happy with my 12 year old sony 32inch big bulky tv, it has never let me down. and shows eastenders in a spectacular fashion. personally i have never really noticed much difference between, notmal, plazma, lcd etyc bar the thickness and the price
its about the new age tvs being able to take HD.
i dont understand why people get a new hd ready tv and dont use hd inputs like sky hd ps3 xbox etc etc
Or bluray.
Its pointless

Far more realistic picture than a samsung im afraid.
Pioneer or panasonic are still the best though!
as per my other post, do bear in mind that the picture on lcd/led tv's is massively enhance in software, hence the 'really sharp' picture. you will find though, that a good plasma has a much more natural and less-tiring image, with better native contrast in the first place.
LED tvs are shit hot, far better than LCD and Plasma, they use less electricity too, not 1/4 as they'd let you believe though, for instance a 200watt lcd will use the same on average as a 350watt plasma which will be around the same as a 100watt on LED.
LED's and LCD's use the same power all the time, plasma fluctuates from low power to it's maximum depending on the brightness of the image.
i'd be waiting for prices to drop more though, remember that all big flat panels were many thousands at first, now down to £500 or there abouts for 42" or well branded plasma.

not 100% true - LCD's use more power when the image is darker as more pixels are energised. it is marginal compared to the power used by the backlight, processing and wasted in the power supply.
and i still disagree that they're shit hot....yes they look impressive, but its all very artificial in an attempt to get around the intrinsic problems with LCDs...
It'll be nice when some large format OLED's come out - very very low power consumption, good contrast, sub-ms response time....currently suffer from burn in quite badly though.
