It takes 30 seconds to either check the FPR has not been tampered with or re adjust the static pressure to your specification. Then check the amal valve is as your specification.

Take car for drive and check fuelling. You can tell pretty quickly if the FPR is set right just by the idle AFR. Check all fuelling and general drive.
If all ok, job done.

Now how much is a gunship chip? £150?

How much is his labour rate? £50 ph?

So that is 5 hours to fit a chip and check the fuelling. Even if you checked all the sensor resistances and the fuel pump voltage it would only add 10 mins max to the job.

Have any of you actually performed these jobs before to have actual experience of how long they take???
What point are you trying to argue exactly? A few years back i had a stage 3 chip from MSD, full setup (not live map) and they supplied and fitted a -31 actuator. My memory isnt great but i am fairly sure the final bill with fuel came to £550. Does that sound excessive to you too then?

You are obviously the oracle when it comes to tuning cars, forward on your company details so we can all come and have our cars mapped and setup by you for £100 a pop!

Cool, sounds like my Ahmed one from back in 1996, which made an engine dyno proven 343bhp and 380lbft on the same spec as yours .

Pete,

I bet he looked like Nick Hayward from Haircut 100..
Frightened the life out of me the first time I took it out in the wet and it lit the back wheels up in 5th at 90mph . Mid-range torque was MEGA.

I wish I had the same amount of hair now as I did then .

That,s exactly how mine is Mike, that,s why i said in my first post how it caught me out... Karl & Ollie had warned me BUT you always need to find it out yourself... i just love how the torque slams in though, makes the conversion imo...

[quote=Alg1k;4492657][quote=Garage19;4492575]If Karl is as good as you say

Yes he is as good as I make out .Karl will take the car out and run the car up in ALL the gears as even a generic off the shelf chip will have certain areas within the map that will need optimising to get the map absolutly spot on as every single engine has lead a very different life . As said you pay peanuts you get what you get. I for one would not use say a place called garage 19 that sounds like it's inbetween council garages 18-20 where as I would use Karl NMS as they have been praised soany times on here the fact that they may be a little dearer which I'm sure there not is of little consiquence when I know the job will be done correctly and my pride and joy won't be waiting for the RAC. I DO know how long it takes to do these checks when done right I was doing it when you were shitting green.
Thats lucky as there is no place called Garage19 Its just a user name.

If you are optimising areas of a chip whilst viewing live ecu data then that is live mapping. Not an off the shelf chip.

So which is the NMS gunship conversion? None of you seem to know what you are paying for.

When i was "shitting green" as you put it there were not any efi cars so i can't see how you can say you were checking their sensors and if you do all this yourself why are you paying someone else to do it again??

Been a while sinse we've had a good 'Karl isn't as good as everyone makes out' thread.

Or a...

'NMS are shit' thread....

Or a...

'X Tuner (usually NMS) did something to my car and I am happy, but everyone else needs to have their say about it' Thread.

Come to think of it, I'm not actually aware of any 'NMS are actually shit threads' just a load of people who prefer using someone else who tells them something else different to what someone else said, so it must be right.

Its all crystal then isn't it.

No ones right, a man paid for a service, which was provided and the man is happy.
