A couple of guys a know and have not seen around for a while have purchased some new cars anyway saw them in the pub last night and got talking , (all good banter) 1 of the has just bought a 200sx and said ive got no chance , in brief my cars fairly quick runnin bout 180-190 bhp 201lb/ft , and have beaten most things ive raced to a certain extent obviously and the other guy has a standard pulsar gtir thingy which a gain said im getting humped LOL , just wondeing have i got no chance ? my car is fast goes off he clock bla bla pulls well , everything is tip top so what do u think the outcome will be along the by-passes etc that run by my house runnin the rs flag against these jap lovers , they were giving me all the usual ford jokes , i said well see

be about the same to be honest. i had a 200sx and a 220bhp rs before that and the nissan wasnt anywhere near as quick as i thought it would be. id say a 180-190bhp escort would be about the same

This is a good 1....having owned a 200sx...and 1 of my close m8s has a standard GTi-R

i think the order would be 1) GtiR 2) Rst 3) 200

but again this all depends on the race off the mark the GTI-r will win by a mile , but when they get to 110ish they run out of puff pretty bad

the 200sx however has a pretty high top speed as standard round about 145 mph , so i believe this is higher than an RST so in theory if the road was long enough and straight enough 200 would win

all relative and depends on the race

so i will sit on the fence ...but do not offer 2 play with u r m8 in the pulsar ...from a standing start or u will be left

are you sure its standard as nearly all the gtir have been mods on them now. exh and air filter and 1 bar boost and that takes them up to 280 bhp very easy very quick cars i no as ive had a few rs turbos and a 4x4 cosworth. and now ive got a 341bhp gtir whichis very very quick. but im selling it to by a 400bhp+gtir

Shame.... if the 200 was an S13 it would probably require a rebuild by the time you got to the Bypass.

You will lose to the GTiR, however, to reduce the 4WD traction advantage.......... Suggest that you start the blast from 50/60mph

Cheers,
Grant

well as i used to own my bro's 12.8 1/4 gtir, 280bhp, about same as a 220-240bhp rst,
but if std gtir and yours is areal 190bhp you will wipe his feet, as for the s14, they are slite slower than a std gtir, about same as 170bhp rst.
all as long as the rs has full grip, and not spinnin.

so put some doller on it and wipe there smiles off there faces, with your blue oval

Soz to join in on this , but would depend on what mods you mate has done to his 200sx , i have the Jap import version 180sx kouki , with 402@flywheel , had a go with dangerous daryl in his e46 M3 and left him no contest. only problem i have is finding traction at the moment,
4x4pete would vouch for this ,

Love me ford and always will , iam an Oldskool ford man through and through

Remember the Escort is 300kg lighter than the nissan, so just basic power to weight ratio you would need more power in the nissan to compete with the escort. But then again... escorts dont have air con and all the lovely extras they get with it.

The pulsar however should walk allover both as it weight less than both and is 4 wheel drive but has all the power of the 200sx

What weight is the Escort? The Gtir will be about 1250kg and I haven't a clue about the 200sx.
If he doesn't bog down off the launch the Gtir will pull away well. You might start to catch him up on the move slowly once at high speeds. I'd expect the 200sx to win over a long distance as it should have a better top speed, but don't underestimate the Gtir as standard, 5.5 to 60 and sub 14s 1/4s are possible.

well
s14 think 1400kg @ 200bhp rwd =166ish bhp/wheels=118bhp@whe/ton
gtir 1260kg@220bhp/fly 4wd =155bhp/wheels=123bhp@whe/ton
rst 960kg@ 170-180bhp = ave 152bhp/wheels=158bhp@whe/ton
my xr2tt at 200bhp is slite quicker than 300bhp gtir
as both my xr2tt and my mates gtir where rollin roaded on same day at pts at a pulser thrash day 20/3/04.
mine 199bhp@fly=174bhp@wheels 230lb/ft
his gtir 294bhp@fly=199bhp@wheels 248lb/ft
and on way there, and back had a few thrashes between 60-130mph, i was quicker even with a extra person in my xr2tt, each time started next to each other and correct gears.

Realy?

My (ex) mate claims to have a 200bhp FRST and it was just slightly slower than my 234bhp Gtir, with 300bhp I can't see you being near me You might manage high 13s at just over 100 if you can put the grip down, I'd be over 1sec and around 10mph faster
Even on the road from a rolling start I think you'd be looking at his rear end alot.

Just noticed it in your siggy. 13.8s is 1/10th of a second faster than a well driven standard Gtir can do. If you're faster than a 300bhp Gtir, he either can't drive or isn't 300bhp

good one bloke,
a 300 bhp gtir does 12.6 @ 108mph
mine does 13.8@ 104, i'm wheelspinnin to 40mph on that day, i driven 280bhp pulser and got 12.85@106 with no wheelspin at 3mph, so thats why i'm not as quick on the 1/4.
std gtir gets 13.8-9@ 96mph. seen on more than one car.
ps mine 199bhp+230lb/ft= 174bhp/wheels@ 950kg=183bhp@whe/ton say 1195kgs(+245 for 3 peeps and stuff)=146bhp@whe/ton
294bhp pulser= 248lb/ft =199bhp@wheels@1260kg=158bhp@whe/ton, say 1420(+160 for 2 peeps etc)=140bhp@whe/ton.

as you sed around 200bhp, wots that 170bhp-180 in real life.

from a standing start you will lose to the datsun by a mile, but once rolling it should be pretty even.

depends though, in my experience every 180-200bhp eRST ive ever raced has been wishful thinking by the owner, i think most of them are probably more like 150 from the ones ive seen claiming that power, but obviously cant comment on yours.

ive not seen any pulsar under 250bhp, even ones with just a filter and exhaust, and 280bhp is very easy to get.

s14 if its standard you should beat once rolling but he will have you off the line

190bhp if it's at fly ain't going to bother either. If it's at wheels then it would be closer. Mate has a GTiR that was rollered at 240 at wheels and ripped it's ass out in EIL, but that had a bit more than 190

No mate my car is 156@weels @14psi with 201lb/ft proven so whats that at the fly 1.6cvh(rebuilt) T3 , piper cam/pulley , GRS i/c , bayoo chip , 2 stage boost , i mean its fast enough IMO walks over the majority of things about my way lots of rst`s , astra / cavy gsi`s calibra turbos etc etc , but not getting my hopes up to much but would love to do it for the SHOCK factor coz gossips rife about my wayLOL would not be from standing start though would be on the move , i mean theres by-passes that run for about 20 miles along from where i live without a speed camera in site with roundabouts dotted prob every 5-10 miles nothing major i know but pulls and goes well

yo soz.
mine also at pts at 10psi 3/04 on 9.6:1 c/r, t25, p/f head, cam etc
got 182bhp@fly = 152bhp@wheels and 199lb/ft,
that nearly keeps up with my bro's 280bhp gtir.

yeah if its std ish,
but peeps think sometimes there std,wen there not, on gtir all it takes to get 260-280bhp is 1 bar boost, and unless you have a extra boost gauge you wont know if its boostin that, cos my bro's run 1 bar, but on his std boost gauge, it dont go past 0.7 hg/cm(about 10psi).
end of the day if you lose ,just 1 lost against a more spec, more power, more tech ex rally spec car.
but if you win he will not be happy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hehehehe

rab
if you want a comparison of other stuff from ava's rollers then that might give you a better idea eh?

my 2wd saff with greens n standard everythin else was 254@wheels@ava and martin(dumped)'s gtir made 235@wheels@ava with only a mongoose exhaust...so pretty standard really.
i have on video a clip of us racing side by side on the dual carriageway from maybe 40mph to 110odd where his speed limiter kicked in cos he was maxed out anyway there is practically NOTHING in it and it dont look like anyone is racing cos cars stay inline its funny when he hits speed limiter and goes out the back well fast lol

from my experience my saff would trash an rst with 156@wheels so im afraind a gtir prob will too

people are still underestimating em

oh martins car from above just with the goose and 12psi boost ran a 12.29 1'4 a crail timin slip to prove.

i'd have one!

chop (closet jitter fan )
